I think that's just the way SS3's collision is, there are probably many spots like that where you can get stuck if you try. And you did get out eventually. Invisible walling stuff would be one way to fix it but I'm not a fan of adding em all over.

Glad you guys enjoyed it,we will do more.Also guards using Biomech player models will be cool Bio patrols!

Hah, great vid. Nicely shows off some Snake teamplay, and that the bush disguise works. Can't wait to go again on another event.

Biomech patrols...idk, there aren't straight up monsters like that in the MGS universe, however making our own Gekkos or such could work. I prefer normal guards though, seeing that most of the maps we've designed are based off of the MGS3 era. We are planning a few MGS4 themed maps though, some set in the Middle East (cause dun dun duunnn, they're very easy to make with Sam 3 ).

Today's event was the tits. Snakes are getting pretty good at what they do at this point since more people have learned to play the mod, I think we already saw pretty even win-loss ratios

A map for the next planned map in development, Middle East Warzone:

It's based off of the CairoCity DM map and it's going to be MGS4 styled, I'm just going to expand it with a few more areas (enterable multi-floor apartment buildings for instance). It seems pretty good for a sneaking map even as is, there's loads of cover of all kinds. Though I'll be adding some more boxes and stuff into the map.

Another cool idea I had was to make the guards PMC soldiers as in MGS4, and have warring factions in the city in the form of gekkos (unmanned walker vehicles) and other metal gears that shoot everything. Maybe even a big actual Metal Gear.

If Pan manages to add Old Snake...that'd be just perfect.

Anyways, for the level scripting, I'd suggest implementing the command "worldInfo:IsWarmupFinished()" instead of having both teams ready up manually. You'd essentially use it as such:

This will delay the script until the warm-up round ends, meaning the Snakes won't get screwed over by people not readying up in time. You could also have both teams have to ready up after the warm-up round... but that'd seem redundant to me.

As well, you should move the scripting that finds all players on the Snake team to just before the barriers are lowered for the Snake team. This'd be better than having it run during the warm-up round, since apparently players can spawn on either side of the map during that regardless of team. Also, try disabling "Join In Progress" innately in the gamemode to prevent respawning mid-game; I'm pretty sure that if players want to switch teams, they can do it during the warm-up round. You should especially do this if you're going to have scripting kill off the Guard team in the new map; if players can switch teams mid-game, they can bypass the check that flags them as the correct team.


Also, on the layout for the new map... I'm not liking that Objective 2 is much closer to the Snake team's spawn than the Guards'. I know the objectives aren't usable immediately, but I can already imagine a lot of other Guards making a mad dash for that area just to get massacred by Snakes nestled into that area.

Nice videos man, I like the added voice a lot. You shoulda tried the Snake side too though, with something besides Mystia all the time.

Thanks for the script tips, I will look into implementing all that. I think the Snakes are already being "got" by the script by the time their barriers go down on their side (that's how I remember doing it anyway), at least I haven't had any reports of people not being able to activate objectives yet, but I'll check it out.

The join in progress thing to disable respawn cheating will definitely come in handy. I based this gamemode off of Croteam's Last Team Standing, so it would mean that some of the Croteam gamemodes possibly suffer from this same bug (worth reporting? ).

As for the new map's layout, I think it's too early to tell. I'm trying something new with the layout, I want the Snakes to stand a slightly better chance in the beginning this time, usually Snakes are by far the underdog team anyway that has to outperform the guards to win. I don't think it's that close to their spawn when you take into account the adjusted run speed but I'll see how it goes, I can still add maybe even more objectives they have to activate so there's more running around. The fact that Snakes have to activate stuff in order in the new map can also benefit the guards, as they will know where the Snakes will be going this time.

We're uploading a major 0.9 update to the workshop as I speak, it will feature among many other new things Smoke Grenades, Middle East Warzone map (inspired by MGS4), new player models including Old Snake, annnndd the return of the fabled !!!EXCLAMATION MARK!!! (guards can now use ! to call out enemy positions).

Credit for the smoke grenades goes to viper45, who, once again did an excellent job with them!

Another thing worth mentioning that this is the first map to the mod that has a linear structure, certain objectives have to be completed in order before proceeding to the next one. In addition, Snakes can "complete" this mission by reaching the roof and having Otacon rescue them by helicopter (this will kill all the guards alive).

Just as a note, Roy, the workshop seems to have some issues right now. This means that most 7Smokers will probably need the non-workshop version, assuming they're subscribed to all the maps and player models from other events. Speaking of player models, since there are over 70 player model packages, a number of them will be missing for people.

It depends on whether workshop works for you or not. Workshop's ALWAYS having issues for me, it's not just "right now". If you don't have problems downloading from workshop, by all means use the workshop version...

Everything else I recorded was awful, take my word for it. XD I got like 20 seconds of Roy killing 2 guards and the rest is me forgetting im recording and spamming "view next player"

My bad <3 There's 2 other bunches of recordings by others on the way so they'll hopefully be better.

New update is in beta. The mod also requires a manual hotfix for now till we can properly patch it on the workshop, since the latest SS3 patch breaks custom gamemodes. The hotfix may still need some testing, I'm trying my best to get it to work without having to reupload the mod yet.

Uploaded a .gro version of the hotfix if that helps anyhow, apparently there were some problems with the Databases one. Might just have to reupload the entire mod to fix it I guess, unless the gro fix starts working.
