I made an animated texture from a gif, so yeah it's possible. It was a while ago so I don't fully remember the details though. I think I first separated each frame of the gif into a separate tga, and then imported them into an animated .tex in serious editor.

Yep but it's planned to make gifs automatically create animated texture with proper speed set and all that stuff

Okay so it goes like this:

1. Choose Create and add texture => Animated Texture

2. Browser window will pop up. You can select all frames of your texture and press open.

3. Now script window will open.

Here you can make adjustments to your texture

Texture width: Specifies how editor will read texture's size in Editor units
Texture Mipmaps: Number of mipmaps generated into .tex file. More mips = bigger file

Animation: Name of your anim (.tex file can hold multiple animations at once)
Speed: Time per 1 frame of animation
Frames: Number that must correspond to number of frames used
Under that you can enter all frames filenames by hand.

After any change in script you must press Refresh to see it in preview window.

When done press Create and proceed normally to save .tex file.

I had in mind to port and modify the deathmatch leves from the game applying the gba textures to keep that advance look. There will be some secret parts rendered with the gba look, just like how Shadow Warrior did.

In short, just my idea. Will put bump textures on em in the next update too...

Kinda sorta. Serious Sam 1 polygons have three slots for textures, and Croteam supplied a few bump-like textures (concrete, crumples, rock, sand) that you can usually put on layer three. That makes it look like bump mapping.

He probably meant Detail textures

But yeah apparently SS1 had bump mapping at some point.
You can see some leftovers in Serious Modeler and SDK manual.

The first screenshot reminds me a lot of Sacred Yards in a good way.

The second screenshot looks really cool, but the trees look like they're too bright.

Overall, I like it a lot.

That looks cool as hell. The slightly blue-ish hue in the sunlight gives it an eerie feeling. The small obelisk in the fifth shot looks unnaturally dark, not sure what's up with that.
