Default Rate the last movie you watched

I watched Rambo(2008) last night:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462499/

It was actually watchable. I was surprised with the amount of blood and gore. Even though kids get killed daily in wars, I think this is the first time I saw an action movie where they were also killing children like dogs. It was disturbing.

Also that last battle scene... I couldn't believe the amount of gibs and blood that were flying all over the place, it looked like they were playing a video game. It was ridiculous. Also that Stallone's face, it's like it was being hit by a brick regularly.

6/10 - Watch and forget.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 aired at my University a few night ago. I enjoyed it, though I felt it dragged on far too long. (Though that may have been due to not having eaten. (We were promised free Pizza at the ECSS but then it never arrived.))

It had a mediocre plot though the twist was surprising.

6/10 - Watch and forget.

The AVGN Movie

3 Picards / 4 Kirks

I don't watch a lot of movies, but I really enjoyed this one. Very old-school like.

Watched The Last Days On Mars(2013):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1709143/

I didn't expect much from this movie, but I have a soft spot for "astronaut" movies, so I gave it a shot. Everything was going well, even though it was all seen in movies like Mission to Mars, Red Planet, and then it happened.
They started to turn to zombies and kill each other.

What a disappointment that was. From all the things that can go wrong on another planet they picked that. Isn't that milked enough these days ?

6.25/10 If you keep your expectations low and that "spoiler" part doesn't bother you, it's an OK movie to pass the evening.

Last night, or should I say this morning, I watched Rosemary's baby (1968)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063522/

I thought I never watched it before, but it turns out I did. The movie is so f*cked up and disturbing that I either suppressed my memory of it, or haven't watched the whole thing back then. I can't rate this. Also warning, the movie is quite slow(which I'm OK with) and the main female protagonist feels a bit dumb at the beginning which can annoy.

na/10

PS: The Astronaut's Wife(1999) is a complete rip off of this movie. They just
replaced the satan with an alien.

I didn't say it's bad, like I said it's disturbing(and not in a cheap way like Saw sequels or something), I don't know what to think about it, so I didn't give a score.

A bit of off topic, but you know what I don't like in modern comic book movies and most of the sci-fi ? It's the generic looking modern American cities they take place in.

I just watched the Avangers Age of Ultron trailer and in the beginning you can see shots made inside a city that could have come from any other film. All those movies look the same, they just take some popular hero and just put it modern setting. I find that boring and lazy.

If you remember movies from the 80s and 90s most of the cities were spiced up a bit. Detroid in Robocop, that town in Judge Dread, then what ever town was in Fifth Element, then Gotham in old Batman movies, Demolition man city... The producers didn't just film the movie in some city, they re-invisioned the whole city and made the whole setting more fitting and believable.

Huh, seems I never posted here?...

I watched Rage with Nic' Cage about a week ago. Oh boy... What can I say, it's definitely something. Worth watching if you're into Nicolas Cage's Cage-esque stuff. Also that ending. Otherwise, I think it's what normal people would call bad.

I actually liked the, well, concept of the movie, or theme - these retired mobsters going around on some quest for vengeance which turns out to be pointless and baseless and gets everyone involved in some deep shit. It's an interesting idea to have an action movie that's about how violence and anger only leads to more misery.

But boy, it's really hard to take anything seriously in this movie! I've seen worse movies but, eh, that's not saying much does it?

Also, how 'bout that rainy rooftop beatdown Cage hands out?

You do realize that most of the movies were set in the future right?
So of course they'd have to design the cities.

and the comics don't take place in fictional cities save for the odd building or two.

Really it depends on whether it needs to be done or not.

I saw the three first episodes of Under The Dome Season 2. I'm going to say it was very nice, a good ambiance and a very good suspense. I like it very much. In every episodes we discover something new... the storyline is always progressing, there are no useless scenes, and the actors play their roles very well and everything is coherent. I'm very exited to know what will happen, and I'm looking forward the news and the other episodes. I hope there will be new seasons after this one... I very like the ambiance and once I started this serie, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stop watching it ! 10/10.

Watched Django Unchained (2012)

It's a pretty good movie overall, except few minor things. Those absurd blood splatters were a joke and I feel those were out of place in a movie with a pretty much serious tone. Also I just can't swallow rap music in a western. Both of these culminate in the last 20ish minutes. If the movie ended half an hour sooner, maybe I would give it a higher score. Unfortunately I wont recommend it to my parents who tend to watch westerns.

7.8/10 Could have been a 8+ movie (in my book) if it took itself a bit more seriously.

Edge of Tomorrow

Surprisingly good blockbuster, cool alien design, satisfying plot, some good humor here and there. Ending was too rushed though.

Not to dismiss your complaints, but what you describe is pretty standard fare for a Quentin Tarantino movie. He likes to take genres of movies and flip traditional motifs upside down and over-glorify things until they become intentionally silly. For example, Kill Bill was a motif of traditional martial arts movie, Inglorious Basterds was WWII movies, and Django being a new take on Westerns. He loves to use absurd amounts of blood (watch Kill Bill) to the point of absurdity. But anyway, his style isn't for everyone, but I've been wanting to watch the movie since I am a huge Tarantino fan

I know what are Tarantino's movies like, but my complaints are because in some of the fight scenes I got the Planet Terror/Machete vibes. In Pulp Fiction/Reservoir dogs when they blow someone up it's bloody mess, but it's not like in a silly zombie movie.

Also when you already mentioned Inglorious Basterds, that movie had some of the greatest scenes I saw in movies, like Hans Landa's interrogation at the beginning or that scene in the basement bar. But the ending was a bit absurd. Both movies are good movies, but I wish Tarantino took just a tiny bit more serious approach and those would me perfect (IMO).

+1, can't see sh*t captain. That move was a big disappointment for me too. Malcolm's dad was around for like half an hour and you basically couldn't even see godzilla. And filming the fight scene in pitch darkness was the dumbest thing I saw in a monster movie.

I've seen people here were talking about Lucy, so I gave it a shot.
4/10, kind of a movie you should watch while eating. Plus it made me laugh, +1 for that.

A woman being exposed, in large doses, to a synthetic, high energy producing, new drug. And instead of ODing with blood bursting out of her every possible hole, her body manages to convert it to pure energy, divert it to her neurons and make her neurons work at full capacity. Then she starts devouring every possible knowledge and becomes a god. Indeed it is a movie, shouldn't be taken seriously but it is presented in maximum seriousness and trying too hard to support its own claims with bits of scientific theories. Not even going for the "process of becoming a god"

tl;dr version -> Someone takes drugs and becomes god. It is partially true, you indeed think that you are a god when you take drugs, but temporarily.

Wow, who would know essence of knowledge comes from weed, not questions?

The last movie two movies I watched is Immortel (About 2 weeks ago) and Purge (1 week ago). And yes I don't watch movies that often maybe once every two weeks at most. Immortel is rated about 8/10 and Purge 7/10...

Armageddon

I know almost every actor in that movie and it's funny to me how they have that many good actors also that kinds of a movie in 1998 that is very cool and the movie has real drama in it and an interesting story so I'll give it an 8/10

Btw AntonioR
I like what you were watching
Rambo movies are my favorite from Sylvester Stallone so about the blood and gore it was actually his idea to show the audiance what is going on in the world and tell people about a war that they had no idea was happening. And if you didn't watch the other Rambo movies I suggest you go on and watch them and also they have less blood and gore in them
