Default Spherical Gravity Problem

Hey all, I've run into my first big problem (in the editor that is, the video tutorial doesn't count ) and it's to do with gravity markers.

Basically I've followed the gravity tutorial on Serious Editing down to the word, but it seems no matter what I do I always just fall off of the sphere.

I've set everything up like it says, and added the Gravity Marker force in my sphere sector's properties, but as I said I just fall off.

I've tried messing aroung with both the position and pitch of the gravity marker, such as 0, 90, 0, but of course, it still doesn't work.

Gravity Marker Settings :

Falloff : 18
HotSpot : 50
Strength : 1
Type : Central

All the other settings are default, and I've tried fiddling with these values.

The marker is included with the sphere WorldBase.

If anyone has any ideas about this, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Did you select the main wordbase, then set the Gravity(0) Setings to the markser, and then set the sector to the marker also? If not, that's your problem. sounds like to me you only have gotten 1/3 of the prossess done

Three gravity tutorials and accompanying example worlds shipped with the game.

The tutorials are plain text and can be found down in the c:\program files\croteam\serious......\help\extras\michaelhar ris\..... directory (something like that) and have names something like "MEH Gravity Marker 1", "MEH Gravity Router 2" and "MEH ....... 3". The example worlds are in the editor's virtual tree's Tutorials section..... have names beginning with "MEH" (names pop up if you hover the mouse over the icons a moment) and can be opened into the editor by double clicking on the example world's icon.

While the tutorials don't deal with spherical gravity until the third tutorial (center of the map, where the struts intersect)...... the first tutorial actually covers everything you need (other than it deals with cylindrical rather than central (spherical) gravity, but the principles are the same....).

Firstly, asd, I did do all of that, as I said in my post . . .

Michael : Yes, I have looked at your tutorial maps, but I was in a bit of a rush (had a friend over for a couple of days from the other side of England so I couldn't get on much) but he's gone now so I'll look through them all, thanks

I've got it working now.

I tried including the sphere in the main worldbase and it worked, although for some reason I couldn't get it working from the main worldbase to the sphere worldbase.

Thanks again for your help, one more question (this one's a quicky) : Do you know if it's possible to actually "stick" to the sphere? I know it can be done with cylinders, but with my sphere I take off, then land on it the other side.

Thanks again, hope I'm not being an annoyance

the falloff may be too small...

I've had problems like this where gravity markers simply do not work. Try deleting the marker and recreating it... sometimes this works
