Is it possible to check localization in the editor? Change launguage for a test some way.
(Im making level both in english and russian languages, but I dont want to run the game every time I want to check smth)

I actually read that on the steam forums, but I couldn't answer, so left it to the others to answer. But maybe you can go to test mode, open the menu with F10 and change the language there.

I never used them either. Anyways, I do recommend using the Knife tool as well, it's very handy in cutting polygons.

Also, I think there's an Insert Vertex tool as well. I think pressing Insert while in vertex mode?

You do it by simply inserting the texture first with all frames in the pic.
- Go to Shader modifiers,
- add CTextureAnimatorModifier,
- count your frames: in your case 26,
- add that number in "Count of frames",
- now in "Count frames X" add the first number of frames that go to the X coordinate in the first row,
- same for the "Y" coordinate,
- the rest should be self explainable

Because your "brush" is too small. Change it in the Brush Palette tool.

Just a question, how big did you do that terrain?

Is it for the background or do you walk on it?

For the background this poly size is fine but if it is an area you want SOMA/TALOS to walk on you need a smaller terrain and higher poly size, else it's like walking on a flat ground.

I want to know as much as I can about terrains.
I tried to do a simple terrain with PaintDisplaceTool (N) and made this:

I checked original terrains, they are looking like this:

I can see poligons are lying... chaotically, or smth like this... More realistic.

That's about terraforming. Now, about texture.
As a test, I tried to paint (with PaintDisplaceTool) a terrain (MultiiLayer, MaskTexture)

But it has only one mask texture, I want to paint more. Maybe I shouldnt use Multilayer, or what?..

It should only need one mask texture, then you painting the different layers on it, which correspond to:

layer 1 - default ("black")
layer 2 - R channel
layer 3 - G channel (I might be wrong about these 3 layers, forgot to check, but they are the RGB channels)
layer 4 - B channel
layer 5 - A channel (only if your mask texture is translucent)

I do recommend also painting a shade texture, as it makes terrains look a whole lot better, with you painting lighter or darker colors on it (but you'll need experience with it. experiment with the colors).

As for original terrains, if you mean those background mountains, those weren't made with the in-editor displace tool, that's why they have a different polygon structure.

Additionaly.

I have multilayer terrain (snow, paths, gravel, snow etc.).
Is it possible to make different step-sounds on different materials? So, one sound on the snow, the other sound on the path.

You have to cut the terrain around the different textures, then make different surfaces, but with the exact same multilayer copy-pasted on these new surfaces, so they look the same. Then you set a different material for these surfaces.

The next:
Im making crumbs on the terrain.

I made it by turning on PaintDisplaceTool, selected "RGBA channels" operation, created new texture, and selected it. I just painted the terrain and then it works. But I was painting without seeing what Im painting, Is there a way to see it?

On the Tools tab, where you set the painting tool up, you see "Preview color", or something like that. Change the... I think the fourth rectangle (click in the box and "drag" it left or right) controls its transparency. Set it to some grey color, and you'll be able to see both what you painting and the ground texture still.

...You edited the XML file outside of the editor? As far as I know, you shouldn't do that. Those settings must be set inside the editor.

How did the navigation for CGhostPuppet works? I tried to move path markers in original "Islands_02.wld" to another place, and the bot found the way to all of them, avoiding obstacles. I tried even copy this bot, but in my world he just try to go straight to the marker and stuck near walls)
