Default Add weapon?

Isn't there any way to add weapons into the game? Even without the SDK? If not, why?

There is no way to add weapons because the Editor doesn't let you do so, and that's the only way you can edit the game right now. All you can do is modify existing weapons so much that they're basically new ones.

That should be possible. Modify an item so that you've made a custom weapon out of it (like converting the Devastator into a Rocket Launcher that fires 5 rockets at once). When you're done with that, make the level and add the modified weapon pickup entity to the level, which will put the weapon in your level. Finally, add the modified weapon code to the .gro package so that it comes with the level when you release it.

You can't make weapon mods specific to levels. Since there's no way to add new weapons without the SDK, the only thing you can do is mod the existing ones. If you package a weapon mod with a map, that weapon will be modded no matter what level you're playing.

If you want to make weapons specific to levels, you'll have to wait for the SDK.

Oh. In that case, it'd be a better idea to pack the modded weapon in a seperate .gro so that it's easier to uninstall it if someone wants to do something like play a custom level with the vanilla weapons. That way, they can just copy and paste just the weapon code when they want to play the level again instead of the entire package.
