I'm hitting up the classic Ground Control again.

Damn, I forgot how good this is...and tactically difficult. (I suck at GC, especially the first...but I find a way around levels, even if it takes me tons of epic tactical fails and dumb lucks. )

I found out that the culprit was actually Avast Antivirus, and not Steam. For some reason, one of the recent updates for Avast made it impossible for Steam to finish installing some games (SEHD being one of them). Temporarily turning off Avast let it finish the install, and I can now play.

It is pretty ironic that anti-virus software causes more problems than actual viruses for advanced users who just want to play it safe.

Top AV products that do NOT do this:
Norton
Avira
MS Security Essentials

Stay away from everything else.

Norton? You must be joking...
Norton deletes everything. I'm using it and I'm in .exe file scarcity! Every minute I get this msg "Threat found. Win32.SalityAE detected in blahblah.exe"
It deleted Microbrush2.exe yesterday.

Don't you see what he's doing? It's reverse psychology. He wants those who are using those programs to stop using them by telling them not to use other programs.

Hah.
Heh.
No.

But, I DID just get my first file quarentine with Norton.
The Witcher 2
Quarentined Launcher.exe, and MalwareBytes AntiMalware just removed Witcher.exe.
All from just updating with 1.3 patch.
Sigh.

Maybe I will go back to Avira (have that on my other 3 systems).

That's probably a welcome. Its rage is not started yet!
Good thing about it, cleans and puts back your files after a month.

????

Can you elaborate?
If it does that automatically, that is a HUGE bug, and I will write a bug report for it (I actually work for Symantec).
Can you give me a repro scenario?

I know you can go into quarentine and restore it, and it wont be scanned again if you actually tell it not to.

I don't use any AV for almost 2 years. Never had any problems.

Actually, when Kaspersky releases some new edition I download free trial version, scan the computer and then I delete it

I just installed it, eyeballed it a month, results:
It does everything automatically. I didn't even touch it after install.

Can you tell me what was actually quarentined, and then restored by itself?

Since 2 summer sales ago I repurchased Far Cry on Steam; a few days ago I've decided to play it once more...

I have to say I am disappointed, I have no idea what I liked about it so much, sure there is some entertaining dialogue, but the AI is f***ed up badly. I started replaying on Realistic, I've finished it on this difficulty before, but I have no idea how I did it then. Apparently the enemies can't see me from 1 foot away if I'm prone in the bushes, but they can see me through freakin army-tent-walls from 30 feet away. That's total bullshit and really annoying. The weapons and everything are nothing special and... It just plain isn't fun.

I don't think I'm bothering with it anymore.

Necrovision's latter half is a lot more fun than the first. Vampire guns: SMG, flamer, grenade launcher, shotgun and then the shadowhand that makes melee almost too satisfying. I kind of miss the German soldiers and the above-ground though.

And I just managed to beat Streets of Rage Remake as Max without using any continues. Hell yes. Admittedly I depended on his star moves (Which do not exist in SoR 2 as far as I know.) but just let me feel good about this ok?

Okay. I have a RagdollMastersv31.exe. I clicked it, It said Win32.SalityAE and quarentined it. I'm tried to restore it back but stupid thing didn't let me do that. After 2 weeks, I ran the .exe file and all was working fine.

//I dropped from network yesterday. Sorry for delay.

will this be your first play of it? I just recently beat it on normal and hard and am now going to attempt it again on serious. it took me almost a month to beat TFE on serious/mental, probably wont be surpised it it takes me longer on TSE.

Well, it actually sounds like you did restore it when you tried.
Nothing moves out of quarentine unless you:
1. Restore it from quarentine.
2. Uninstall the AV, and tell it to restore all quarentine items (old AV builds only).

We dont randomly just restore quarentin'ed items.

I am downloading ragdollmasters though (not full version) and will see if I can replicate the issue.
What version and app are you using ?
Norton Internet Security?
Norton Antivirus?
Norton 360?
What version?

Thanks.

Nah, I played through it back when it came out. I actually wasn't planning on replaying the game itself, but rather I just needed to reinstall it so I can get back to modding/mapping for it.

I don't think I've ever beaten any of the Serious Sam games on Serious. I generally don't like extreme difficulty, so I'll usually stick with the default/normal difficulty level. I do seem to remember getting to Karnak on Serious many many years ago... not sure how I managed that.

oh well yeah kinda figured anyone who joins these forums played the originals at some point but since I havent made a map of my own in so long i generally get my serious fix by getting bragging rights on the higher difficulties. but I warn you viper, serious is hard enough but mental is next to impossible
I learned that the hard way.....

Speaking of hard, Natalie Portman. Oh, and I just beat Ninja Gaiden: Black on "Hard" again. I want to finally have my go at Very Hard, but I would like to do it in the snazzy DOA throwback outfit that's only available after being Eternal Legend, which is currently proving to be annoyingly challenging (**** you, whip-bitch boss!).

Restarted Witcher 2 on Hard difficulty and going for an alchemist/mage kind of build this time (and Roche's path, last time I did Iorveth). Only bad thing is, I still remember the plot too clearly.

Default Re: What are you playing?

I've been replaying the Assassin's Creed franchise ever since I bought the 3-pack on Steam. I've finished AC1 and AC2 so far, both amazing games. But I will say that the two DLC chapters that were included in AC2 were nowhere near up to par with the quality of the rest of the game. I think I would have been pretty upset if I had bought those separately for the 360 version.

One of the DLC chapters had a scene where Ezio
slowly pushed his blade into the throat of one of his targets, as if he was enjoying the pain he was causing
. It was so out of character, I couldn't hardly believe they put that in. Even in the next chapter (the second DLC chapter), there's a scene where you're tasked with
assassinating someone before he burns to death. Ezio even says something along the lines of "No one deserves to die in such pain"
. Anyway, I guess that just bugged me.

I've just started AC: Brotherhood, and it's simply great as well. Playing through these games again makes me that much more excited for AC: Revelations. Altair, Ezio, and Desmond... all 3 playing a large role in the same game. It's going to be great.
