I'm just looking at it from a 'realism' perspective. If there was a tree at the top of the wall then it could be warped by the roots. But if you are just doing it to add some interesting variation then it makes sense to add more variety.

Heh, originally I planned to do them around trees, but since I didn't want trees everywhere, but these, I decided to just go for it. But you are right. And I was serious about doing it. It's a bit hard, but getting some cool results

Oh wow, turns out that I am no longer able to save my own map xD If I open it, do some changes and save it, the editor will always crash while saving. Does any one have any idea that might help ? If not, this map is a complete bust.
Phew, thank god I always keep 8 backups at all times...

Edit: Oh for the love of, I can't play test it either. In fact, the ed started crashing at almost any simple task I attempt. Did CT secretly release some update that screws this thing up ?

What is the size of the map? As in, on the hard drive. If it's huge, like, a whole lot bigger than even some official SP maps, then it may have some issues you haven't notice yet.

It's a simple 17 mb map, that worked yesterday. Also this is a MP map. How the hell do you split a MP map Also I used to be able to save maps up to 30 mb in size.

AHA, I figured it out and it only took 2 hours of my designated mapping hour! It turns out, that if I have team bases (the flags) in a map delete them and try to save it, the editor will always crash. It will also crash if I play test it or try to select the Worldinfo. So I had to unreference them from the world info first, and then delete them. SED will never cease to surprise me.
Any how the map is going along great. The Team version is complete and tested, and made the normal death-match variation today that is by far more free roam that the team play one. For starters there are no barriers and jump pads allow the player access to pretty much all roofs.

If things go along at this rate, I'll have it ready for the weekend

Hmm, I just played this map on a different monitor that the one I usually have and it's colors were completely off. So now I don't know if that's how the map actually looks like, or is the monitor just calibrated wrongly.

Anyhow, what main color do you guys see the map in, bright reddish/orange , gold yellowy(like I see it) or some other color ?

My monitor isn't calibrated right now so it won't be accurately to tell you how are colors on my monitor. When i calibrate it i will tell you how its looks. If you have printer you can print your screenshoot and calibrate monitor based on that colors. It will not be as with calibrator but colors will be fairly close.

I don't mean that you guys should calibrate, I was complaining that my one wasn't. And it looks horrible now. I made it on a somewhat dark almost color blind monitor and it looked good. Now when I see it as it really is, the for is to dark, the light is to bright, all the colors that I thought were balanced are not, everything is screwed. Also my original theme was yellow. That 's why I called it golden downfall, but now I'm so far in the map progress that changing the colors will take some serious work. I'm trying to make this sucky red theme work, it's not that bad at all, but it is not what I originally thought I was making. Oh well, at least I saw this before I released it, and I can fix it

@Batandy, your monitor probably isn't calibrated too, every one else sees this as reddish/brown. At least you see it as it was supposed to be xD

Unfortunately you are not the only one who's Beholding, but as luck would have it, the temple not only represents an infinite amount of gold but also a small military warehouse, with the name of the beholders written on the bullets it holds.

The level also features a very destructive environment, an assortment of weapons that I think will be interesting, and of course everything graphics wise I could throw in a MP map, and some that I really shouldn't have but did anyway. Like the awesome water shader that uses 4 normal maps On a whole, it's pretty balanced, tested for final tweaks and balance and I think it's pretty ok now. Also it's completely free roam, nothing really stops you from going to see the edge of the map, and in fact that's where the most secrets are The CTF map variation though is a bit more strict, but still within limits.


Some for the following S! members.
Mongo for beta testing this and putting up with me constantly steaming him to beta test it. +100000 fc.
And LD for some cool ma design ideas. +50000 fc.

Ah, it feels good to have the fear of releasing this map off my solders, it has been ready for the past 2 weeks, but I always thought that it needed something more. And it did. And I added it, and so on...It's just that too bad that fear of releasing this map, got replaced a while ago by the horror of releasing my secret sub project that's almost nearing completion too. A little sumthin' I've been doing for the past month, takes a while because it's a character, and the 3dRipper program didn't got it's UV map data. So I have to completely recreate it from scratch and it ain't easy. All in time. Worst of all, in the mean time, Pan Strife beat me to being the first S! member to have an in-game player model to match his avatar.

Excellent work, Mischievous. Grade A+++ Map! Thanks for the credits and stuff! Was a hell of a time doing this, and it was cool to see the map evolve from beginnings to end. I am sure everyone will be enjoying your map for much time to come.

My aforementioned project just hit SS HD . It's always been a crazy idea to try to import Krystal from those Star Fox games, but it was only until one month ago..well 3 months actually, since I had a ton of problems just getting the model in blender, that I actually initialized it.
At first I couldn't even get 3d ripper to work right, and I never did. The best I got was a raw mesh, with no materials or UV data whatsoever, so I spend the past month uv mapping. Quite a challenge And seriously there's got to be a better way, an alternative to UVmapping, Krystal is only a 4k poly model and it took me one month, I can't imagine how people must UV map characters like Alyx from Half-Life 2 that are like 15k min. Those poor bastards.

Any how, today I managed to get the proper scaling to fit HD's skeleton

Great effects in map man I really like how rain sheds from walls and, sound + feeling when you destroying obelisk very well done. UV mapping raw mesh XD that sound painful

I think he is a little disappointed with the low amount of feedback he got, Louva. It really does deserve more attention, it is a great map.

Wierdly not many users install custom mods,and even less give feedback.
I actually told him my feedback through steam chat, but you'll all know what i'll say:
The map is great, and feels funny to play.I seriously hope there'll be something similiar for sam 3 in the future.
