Looks cool! I like the layout, very interesting. I am assuming there are items worthwhile at the end of the planks to make it worthwhile to risk your life going to the end.

Also, I want to see something on this beaver creek map remake you briefly mentioned in the Shoutbox

Beaver Creek (Serious Sam 3) - The classic Halo 1 map returns with a different look than before. Halo's Beaver Creek features 2 different bases, cliff side sniper spots, tunnel and building interior battles as well as dead mans land free for alls all in one map. Perfect for all VS. Game modes of the player killing variety!

Here's some screens of it so far. Not too sure about some of the textures like the ground, I'm getting some second opinions from some modders that I like, see what they suggest. I want this to be a great map for all players. I decided to go with a hidden temple in the desert canyon styled map here. One that melds into the canyon and keeping it hidden from the world. I think it turned out well. The only thing that needs to be added now is the river and of course, items.

Map main points:
- Versus map
- Aiming for a cold, desolate and lonely feel. Lotsa brown and grey and shit like that. =P
- Different combat environments that can change ones strategy and play style on the fly.
- Fantastic for team modes.
- CTF friendly.

Things I will change:
The roof's of the buildings need a better texture.
Variations on the boulders
Water
Sand on the ground was changed to look nicer, so damn those screens are already out dated!

Suggestions:
- Even a cold desolate place can have grass (Finzy)
- Make it green like the original (Finzy) - Technically done, you'll see. =P
- Texture fix ups (doing) (Finzy)
- Lighting
- Shortcuts (NMR)
- Rocks need a change of texture. (Artifica)
- Teleporters (NMR)

Note: I was gonna make it a surprise, but whatever. There's also a traditional version of this map that allows a user to play it in its lush green style like you normally would in Halo 1. Just 'cause I know some people would like to play it like they remember it.

Texturing needs some more effort put into it. Terrain isn't looking quite nice and it's not the textures, the problem is it seems to be plain, it definitely needs some height variety. Also, those rocks looks out of place, perhaps you should change their textures as well.
Architecture is also way simple, but nah, I've never seen complex and detailed architecture in any native SS map anyway, nor I think it actually needs it, I think it's just my personal taste.
But I like the layout, would like to check out the gameplay.

Nice job Pan! I love the new Egypt-ized look to the Halo map! My only suggestion is some improvements in some of the textures, but you are aware of that already. I can't wait to try it out, great work so far! Couple questions...

1. I know it is a different physics engine than Halo so it might be difficult, but will the shortcuts from the original map be present? i.e. jumping on top of one of the boulders and jumping onto the base roofs.
2. Will the teleporters behind the two bases be there? Since I have never touched any of the editors since SS:SE, I'm not sure if this allowable in SeD 3.

The texturing comments are one thing, but the flat land and architecture comments I will make one point. As Pan said, this is a SS-version of the classic Halo 1 multiplayer map, Beaver Creek, which was released in 2001. So simplified architecture and terrain is pretty much a given. Granted, Pan could spruce up the map somewhat, but I personally like it as it is.

@Artifica: I believe that, as some of your critiques are fair, others aren't exactly gonna happen. Height variety and complex architecture is probably the last thing that this map would need imho. The rocks are already gonna be changed to have a more fitting texture. And ouch, more effort? XD I put a lot of effort already but okay. >_>; Thank you for your suggestions however, they are appreciated.

@NMR: I will be thinking about the teleporters. I may have to ask Mischievous about them since they are a scripted thing. But at this point, I'll just leave it as a maybe. I bug that dude enough as is. The physics engine won't allow the rock to base roof jumps, but I might be able to make some new secret ways to jump in if I wanted to.

I was going to spruce up the map a bit with some objects and the such as well, and I think once the river is put in along with the normal gameplay items, it won't look as barren as people seem to dislike.

Freaking Light Oven shadowmaps and all that crap is giving me the shits, so much hate. XD Had this great lighting set up and it went down the drain, can't get it back. Sad times.

I finally got Master Chief to work accurately after a lot of fiddling around in Blender.

Looking good so far. I anticipate trying this out firsthand some time in the near future. Looking forward to seeing the map with shadows, I think it will add the needed clarity to the pictures.

Also love the Master Chief model, it's teh uber sexy. Damn... Now you are making me want to pop in Halo CE again.

I seem to recall there being a big tree in front of one of the sniper perches to provide some foliage cover, you should add that in as well

Unfortunately, due to the 1 hit kill style of SS3's sniper rifle, I'm not giving the snipers any more of an advantage than they already have. I one shotted Misch and Finzy constantly and that didn't seem fun. Having that ledge and a pillar of stone to block rockets seems enough for them, imho. But thank you for the suggestion and pointing out that I missed something.

The updates are a definite improvement, the new sand and rock textures make it look like a more cohesive environment. Putting the Warthog in was an awesome idea.

I think the texture used on the big rock formation in the middle is a little odd, almost like it's made out of sand. Not sure if it would look better with a more rocky texture or not.

By the way, this is a 1:1 copy of the original map's geometry, right? So critiquing the geometry itself would be pointless?

Assault rifle screen is a placeholder until I decide what to do with it. Thinking of going the route of the SS2 Minigun/Uzis but I may also just use the normal AR Halo digital displays. Dunno, hard to choose.

Not perfect, but here have a new set of in game hands. Screw the texture hacks! =P My pistol clips through his fingers so posing is required for small scale posing. Been doing that for quite some time and this is what I got. Looks like I need to do more.
