Unhappy Ugh. No Bots? :(

By the time SS2 releases to the public, It'll probably wont include further updated Multiplayer, like Bots for an example. I have never found any discussions about it whatsoever.

If the game doesnt include any Multiplayer Bots then It would be a great dissapointment to me and probably to some other people.

Though there is clearly no confirmation about the games other Features in gameplay so we'll probably have to wait and see.

Would anyone else want Bots in SS2 Multiplayer?

I for sure would want them, but I don't think it's that likely that we'll get to see them, seeing as SS was always about fighting monsters (in SP and Coop), and there bots wouldn't be of that much use.

bots would be cool but I doubt they'd be in the game since
a) bots need good AI - something SS has not been known for because it's enemies swarm rather than use tactics
b) to utilise bots in levels most games I know of use pathing in the level design because AI can only go so far in telling the difference between a wall and a jump pad when there is such diversity in levels and objects
c) bots in these games only seem to really deal with one target at a time - switching but never really tracking more - that could cause problems if a bot were swarmed

I'm sure some AI programmer can correct me on many of these points but from what little I know of bot backend design these would be the main sticking points

I'd like to see bots in SS2 too, but I don't think CT will put them in.

So... why not you? You seem to be eager to see the idea happen. Perhaps you could team up with Dean and get the job done more quickly?

You 3 will do very well on the bot mod, i'm sure.

Can you have it done in the week after the game is released?

Personally, I couldn't care less whether the game has bots or not My point was that if someone wants something to happen, they should make it happen; instead of just waiting for someone else to do it.

I'm not supposed to think like that, I'm an American.

Thumbs up FIne with me!

I don't think Croteam should spend much time on bots. That's not what Sam is about; Sam is about swarming enemies and interesting levels.

There are a million games with bots, why make SS2 another one?

Bots generally suck anyway, even good ones. I play UT2004, and the bots are still tactically and strategically stupid and operate at a newbie level except for shooting accuracy.

Although, it could be fun to have DM with swarms of enemies, but that wouldn't need smart bots either

If MP doesnt have bots, its going to be like SSSE all over again. Notice how many ppl play SSSE and how many play Q3A currently. Q3A has bots and SSSE doesnt...

Hold on... are you comparing how many people are playing online? Of course Q3A has more people playing online. It's a deathmatch based game. That's all there is to it. Serious Sam was never intended to be a DM focused game. Tell ya what, compare how many people are playing co-op Q3A to co-op SS? Yeah, that's what I thought. You can't do it... because Q3A doesn't even have co-op.

If you want to play a game with bots, there's plenty of those games on the market already. How many games have co-op? How many games can fit 100 enemies on the screen at once? There's a thing called 'feature creep'. It's where developers try to add features to their games beyond the original scope of the design. Features keep getting added, and more features keep getting thought up until the game dies. It just gets too bloated and the development cycle takes too long, eventually the game looks dated and lacks focus. So, let's leave the bot discussion alone and let Croteam focus on what made their original SS game good, fast action, co-op, tons of enemies and a sense of humor. Anything else is just a waste of precious development time.
