Greetings, all.  I am one of those rare people that prefer playing FPS games with a joystick, rather than the mouse/keyboard.

My question is, how do I setup all of the following in "Serious Sam":

1. Map Strafe Left/Right to the R-Axis (rudder).
2. Map Move Forward/Backward to the Y-Axis.
3. Map Turn Right/Left to the X-Axis.

Thank you in advance for your quick reply.

Options/Players And Controls/Customize Controls/Advanced Joystick Setup.

Aw crap I just actually wrote down my settings this weekend too but I'm at work now. I use an Axis Pad and will be glad to post the settings for you tonight unless some kind soul can help you out before then.

I definitley prefer using a controller too. I ABSOLUTLY CANNOT PLAY WITH A KEYBOARD/MOUSE!!! I always wind up running around shooting the walls....

BTW Welcome to the forums. *

Wll, in the mean time, you can open (in notepad for example) the controls file(s) and look around. No harm done if not saved. Notice the BOTTOM 10 lines or so, that is where you bind your axis so play a little.

Files should be xxxx\Croteam\Serious Sam\Controls\ and from there: 01-xxx 02-xxx 03-xxx and so on.
(I suggest you copy one of the CTL files into new one, name it 15-MySet.ctl, create text file called 15-MySet.des and put some text (one liner) to display like: "My set of controls" and go full with it.)

Axis "move u/d" "None" 50 0 NotInverted Absolute NotSmooth
Axis "move l/r" "Joy 1 Axis X" 60 10 Inverted Relative NotSmooth
Axis "move f/b" "Joy 1 Axis U" 60 10 Inverted Relative NotSmooth
Axis "look u/d" "Joy 1 Axis Y" 78 10 NotInverted Relative NotSmooth
Axis "turn l/r" "Joy 1 Axis R" 72 10 NotInverted Relative NotSmooth
Axis "banking" "None" 50 0 NotInverted Absolute NotSmooth
Axis "view u/d" "None" 50 0 NotInverted Absolute NotSmooth
Axis "view l/r" "None" 50 0 NotInverted Absolute NotSmooth
Axis "view banking" "None" 50 0 NotInverted Absolute NotSmooth
GlobalDontInvertLook
GlobalDontSmoothAxes
GlobalSensitivity 50

[edit]This is from the Wingman Extr. file I guess (I have no clue what it is, but has rudder and other controls).

Why do you guys make it so hard, its best and easiest set from where I told him to go and set it at and joypads are different from joysticks, so deadzones and sensitivitys will be off a hair.

OK here's what my Axis Pad looks like:

look u/d * mounted to joy1 axis z
* * * * * sensitivity 62%
* * * * * dead zone 10%

turn l/r * mounted to joy1 axis x
* * * * * sensitivity 60%
* * * * * dead zone 10%

move l/r * mounted to joy1 axis r
* * * * * sensitivity 100%
* * * * * dead zone 10%

move f/b * mounted to joy1 axis y
* * * * * sensitivity 100%
* * * * * dead zone 10%

That's the basic setup. You might have to fudge with the other settings or invert something to get it exactly how you want it.
