Cool Classic Turok Games Thread (Warning, big iamges inside)

Hey, guys. Anyone remember playing the old Turok games based on those comics? I sure do... Wow, what a beautiful, great game. The story wasn't half bad, but really wasn't explained well in the game, and if you didn't have the original manual, you were left clueless to what was happening. But it really doesn't matter as the massive world filled with dinosaurs, aliens, mutants, and monsters is enough to draw you in. Not to mention some of the most unique and fun-to-use weapons in gaming history, in my opinion. I'll post some images below of the original weapons.
Well, looks like an explosive shotgun! I wonder where Croteam got the idea for theirs...

Oh, a video! Shows off the weapons of the game! Check it out!

Oh, this one is from Turok 2: Seeds of Evil! Wow, the cerebal bore kicked so much ass!

Turok bosses were just epic. Had a lot of variety, too. Went from a standard poacher leader in a jeep to Cybernetic dinosaurs to even a massive mutant Mantis. They all did different things, but it all came down to - Shoot it. And with all of the cool weapons within the game, it never got old.

Another subject I'd like to get into is the amazing soundtrack this game had. Just could listen to it over and over, it was so awesome. A lot of variety too. The first game didn't have too much varied music, but the second game really did it right. Check below for some awesome tracks.

The enemy variety in this game is quite good, too. It goes from bloodthirsty dinosaurs to power-hungry aliens roaming the Lost Lands. Check out some of the coolest enemies I've ever seen.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my summary over these old, great and timeless classics! Let's discuss this old, wonderful game, shall we?

I already commented this game in the "video game music" thread. I only played Turok 2. The game was really challenging. The level design was sick, good that there was a map you could use, because it was easy to get lost.

The game has a great arsenal of weapons, from melee weapons and bows, to the one and only Cerebral Bore.
The blood and gore effects were great, and the death animations were always funny to watch.

The game is old-school. You need to find some stuff so you can get to that other stuff so you can unlock new worlds. Every world is unique in design and enemies. Of course at the end of each world there is a boss.

I never played this game. The name Turok rings a bell, but I don't remember playing anything like this.

@ Devastator: Definitely! I have spent countless hours on this game, no exaggeration, almost tying with Serious Sam.

@ Dave3D: Well, you can get the game for free through Nintendo 64 Emulators and Roms, but I am not sure if this is considered piracy or not, so I am not for sure about this method. You can however, if you have one near you, go to a pawn shop And probably find the game for a good 1 or 2 $ for the N64, if you still own one anyways. The game, for PC, can also be purchased here: http://www.amazon.com/Turok-PC/dp/18...1653392&sr=8-1

@ Discy: Yes, the game was very popular at the time, but some haven't played it. I highly recommend this title. One of the biggest FPS games ever, was massive.

@ AntonioR: Oh god, yes! Turok has one of the best, best*** arsenals in a game ever. Ever! The cerebal bore was so much fun to use! Check out some clips!
YouTube Video: Turok 2 - Cerebral Bore

Also, I think I found a better quality version of Port of Adia track, if your interested. I'll leave it link only if it is the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBdvzDeKnsg

And @ Antonio again: Yeah, it is very sad, but most of the team went off to create Retro Studios (Developers of the Metroid Prime series and Donkey Kong country: Returns). They went bankrupt and shut down after Turok: Evolution, which I am one of the only ones who enjoyed the title. It didn't surpass the awesomeness of the original first 3 games, but it wasn't bad. At least it is good to hear the developers are still alive elsewhere working on great games. Yes, I would love to get my hands on this for PC again. GoG needs to get this on there!

And, again, another edit: Admins and moderators, please fix the thread name. Change iamges to images. Thanks!

The only thing which cripples this game are the hideous controls...
I wish there was a mouse look ability, but the game wasn't built around this feature.

I remember playing the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter when I was a little kid.

Good stuff, from what I remember. This is off-topic, but is Turok 2008 any good?

While playing Turok 2, I decided to cheat and use all weapons.

At one point I went around using the cerebral bore on everyone.
Yeah...... I started to feel a little sick after the 30th time.
Blood fountains didn't bother me until you get grey brain matter pouring out everywhere.

@Vezzy, No, the new Turok was horrible. It took on modern-like gameplay mechanics (Weapon Limit, Regen Health) and actually rebooted the awesome story and changed it into something Turok is nothing about. Just bottom-line, stay away from it.

I like Turok 2008 ok. Big T-REX look good. FOV is little awkard because of too close.

Holy... you're right Mongo the latest Turok was HORRIBLE. Seeds of Evil will always be the best. I also liked the one on the PS2. Was it called Evolution or something?

The Turok was a generic shooter imbued with all the cancers of modern FPSs with dinosaurs and a failed abortion of the Turok family line for the main character.

What Lord Angus said. The new Turok completely ruined the Turok storyline and characters. If you know anything about the story or the comic series, then you would understand. The new Turok was interested in the name "Turok" and not the game itself... Acclaim sold their rights to the wrong people, heh. But, Evolution was the on PS2. It wasn't bad. My favorite Turok game would have to be a tie between Dinosaur Hunter and Seeds of Evil.

/\ Anyone remember this epic sequence? Holy cow, was it fun. Just bombing the hell out of all those puny Dinosaurids and crushing buildings and etc. Was so much fun. If I am correct, this was the beginning to the level "River of Souls"?

Well, I do have to agree with you there, Redboy. I guess I was in what I call a "hating" mood and went a little overboard with it. I am not a big fan of it, as it is too generic and has nothing to do with previous titles. But yeah, it did have some fun parts. But classic Turok will always reign as ruler of the series. The newer Turok didn't have enough fog.... Hah.
