Talking Sacred Yards undocumented secret

This "secret" isn't registered as one, but it can surely be counted as one. This allows you to skip the tedious switch-pressing to remove the door's bars and skip right to the last yard.

The "silent walk pill" isn't necessary, I just didn't feel like shooting more than necessary. Also I'm not sure about the statue in the first yard or the Pinky secret, but the two important steps you have to follow are:

  • Rocket jump yourself into the hidden teleport. If you enter that yard through the door the secret is disabled. You don't have to telefrag the Arachnoid, I just thought that was hilarious.
  • Shoot the statue in the center.


If you followed these two steps the bars will all remove at once and you get to leave scot-free.

This secret has not been included in Serious Sam HD. I already tried it in SSHD:TSE. And for those of you who'd rather view it in-game or question my legitimacy: The video in Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter v1.05 format.

Well, I shot that Arachnoid into the teleporter during my last playthrough of this level. And then I started exploring and found out that if you go through the teleporter and shoot the statue then the doors just pop open. Purely by accident.

Well same about the SS1 Alpha...

So I guess we could call this as "Umm okay... secret" because that's what I was thinking while playing. Very weird, I guess even CT forgot about it if it's not in SSHD, because SSHD is a 1:1 conversion. I check in the editor.

Hahaha, yeah right, it's been months since I made a post like that, you've been away too long. Not that the SS1 Alpha even counts, that just happens to be the thing I've been researching lately. So no burn there bro.

Anyway, it seems Croteam did not forget about this secret: They deactivated it themselves. It is in SSHD, the teleport have been moved to a more visible location, it also has the same teleport model that is shaped like a galaxy, and when the teleport is triggered, it displays "Geek-teleport activated!" message. However, when the door opens, there is a visibility bug that is well known problem (at least for me) that comes with using SS1 Moving Brushes and Dynamic Visibility Portals in SSHD. This bug is caused by the fact that only one side of the door opens (some people actually seen this bug surfacing in the Beast DLC). After fiddling around with its triggers, I've discovered that this bug seemingly was disabled intentionally. (Aka, the whole sequence is there, but the trigger itself is not triggered that would trigger the sequence).

I mentioned it in my post before. When only the one side of the doors open then the visibility bugs out until the door itself is open, and this is by design. Only when both sides of the door are opening when the visibility works well.

Aside from that major minor factor, what really surprised me is when you grabbed the "Not-so-silent pill" at the beginning, I didn't know you could disable the enemies on this map for a bit. People will have to start changing their speedruns of this level at this point.

EDIT: A few minutes after I walked out the door I remembered that you could simply rocket jump over the wall in a speedrun. Silly me.

This is actually a well-known secret. When the map starts, you have three to five seconds before the "silent walk pill" deactivates and turns into the "not-so-silent pill" and spawns monsters in your face. That's why I recorded from the start.

Finally :-). Congrats Solais on discovering the entire sequence.

Even I had difficulty in remembering my entire trigger sequence work when we did the HD testing.

Good memories with triggers, spawners and all. Now with lua, and before with macros, those kind of secrets are all much easily detectable.
