Default Respawning in single player

Is there any way to enable respawning in single player as it is in co-op play? Naturally, this is not possible in the options but maybe through modding?

And while I'm at it, is there a way to enable multiplayer extra enemies in single player?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm not quite so serious as to complete the game on Serious without getting stuck in some huge battles, unable to proceed without dying at least once. In Serious Sam classic you could use the split screen mode to play alone with respawning but here this is not possible.

It's not possible with modding too as far as I know.

One way to simulate splitscreen though is by making a server and set it to private, as long as you don't invite someone, no one will come

Why not try playing multiplayer classic, and setting it so only you can play in that game at that time? I recall there being a "min/max players" or "Private game" option on the server set up that may serve you well.

Yeah, I tried that. Multiplayer doesn't allow saves however so I'd have to complete a level once I start it and use the weapons and ammo the game gives me when I want to "continue" from a certain level.

With respawning there is also this problem of the game giving you some preprepared weapons and thus you lose weapons and ammo from secrets. But I guess that can't be helped. Also, I think some secrets don't work in multiplayer (the phone booth one's I believe).
