Default How to use the mesh tools?

I would like to cut my models into several parts to create gibs.

Doing this directly in Serious Ed seems possible, but I am having a hard time with the mesh tools (having no experience with Serious Ed, coming from Blender)

- How do you best select whole parts of a model?

- How to seperate the sected part from the model?

- How do you close the wholes?

- How do you assign a new texture to the polygons closing up the hole?

I tried google for general Tutorials about this topic, but couldn't find anything.
Can you give me some tips or point me in the right direction? Thanks a bunch!

- In polygon mode, double click. However, most of the time, this selects all the polygons. Then, just one-by-one.

- Many ways. One of them is that if you just ctrl-c, then place a new model entity on the level with insert, press E while it's selected to go into the Mesh editor, then ctrl-v.

- In vertex mode, if you select vertices in a counter-clockwise direction then press P, it will create a new polygon.

- Select the polygons then presst ctrl+shift+f to create a new Surface. However, with new polygons you'll have to create a new UVmap for it (not overwriting the old, otherwise it will mess up the original uvmap), in PM -> T (bottom-right corner).

Thank you, this is exactly the tips I need, shortcuts and UI stuff!

Can you explain a bit further how to create a new entity on the level with insert?

I see PM in the corner, but no T. Can you elaborate how to create new UV maps?

Click PM, then T should appear. Click that, and then there's a drop down thing near them. You can create a new one there.

Edit: Found it, it was under VM.

I have trouble setting up a fitting UV map though, do I have to guesstimate which projection direction to choose? Any tips how to create a good UV map with this?

(I was expecting a 2D projection of all selected polygons to arrange on a texture, like in blender)

Ah, it was a Vertex Map. I always forget which one it is.

Anyways, I usually choose Atlas.

Cool that seems to work. I could use some more options, but to create some gibs, it doesn't need all that detail. Thank you very much for your help!
