Exclamation SS:TSE - This saves mappers a lot of time. (prefab worlds)

For the mappers in the house here I've made some worlds with SS:TSE. It took me a little while to make this. These are basic rooms with modelholders. This saves a lot of time when mapping. Definetely check this out. Just extract the worlds in LevelsMP (or improvise) and open the editor. Press 'Insert Items', select these worlds and save the Virtual Tree.

World 1 - Tree Templates.wld : A small worldbase with ALL the various tree and bush models, including the Model Destruction and the debris versions. To ease up the destruction, select the tree you wish to use and all the Debrises. Then select the Model Destructions, press Ctrl+C, go to your own level, and press Ctrl+V in the room you save all your template enemies in. Place the first tree in the part you want the tree.

World 2 - South American Templates : All the models from the South American Theme. From Fireholders to totems. Two Fire models included for the Fireholders.

World 3 - Babylonian Templates : All the models from the Babylonian Theme. From Fireholders to Babylonian Towers. Two Fire models included for the Fireholders.

World 4 - Gothic Templates : All the models from the Gothic Theme : From Fireholders to Shields and even Surfboards. Two Fire models included for the Fireholders.

I hope you guys find this useful.

Edit: Note to self: Next time actually UPLOAD the file...

I know almost everything about mapping, and I map from time to time, but I am a 'lazy' mapper, like Fiendan was. I never released anything. BUT, I am working on a 'real' map now.

You have to think of a really good idea to stick to the map otherwise it'll get boring

No problem.
But really, the thing is to find your favorite theme, if you find it, then you probably won´t get bored.

My problem is getting maps started, not finishing them.

When there is little or nothing in place...no sense of scale of direction everything progresses realy slow. But as they get bigger they hit a 'critical mass' and production accelerates.

I just can't figure terragen out. I tried it more times than I can count on 14 hands.

By the way, I'm smacking everyone who's gonna link to Toastar's terragen tutorial, 'cause I've tried that a billion times.

Edit: Wee! Sticky thread!

how i learned to do it was save the topmap as normal, convert to .tex and when you have the black and white map (heightmap?) you print screen it and cut it as 512 by 512 in paint, then save as tga or pcx and use it in the editor.

I know how to do the heightmap, but when I change the camera to look from above at the topmap it looks like TOTAL crap.

bump.

youve got to set the zoom to be closer to the terrain and have the terrain units something like 128 by 128 by 4096 then the next line 128 by 128 by 0. then zoom in.

If you click on the file, you will get a bunch of odd chars...

You must right click, and then save file.
