Cool More Duke Nukem Forever Enemies! (NOW AVAILABLE!)

I am in the process of replacing some models with enemies from Duke Nukem Forever,
further enhancing the Awesomeness of Duke Nukem: BFE

I never modded anything before (apart from importing custom skateboard graphics into
THPS with a tool) - so excuse some rough edges. As of now, I have replaced the Gnaar with
the Pigcop, and the headless Rocketmen with the Alien Assault Trooper.

I have found several other models, and plan on implementing them over time.

One thing I would love to do is the Octabrain, but I just can't find models for it!
If anyone can point me to more DNF models, I would be thrilled!

I found a tool called Noesis, that lets me export almost any model from DNF. Pretty cool!

So now I have the Octabrain, and a ton of others. We'll see what I can do with them.

A friend also suggested Impregnators. Personally I am not so hot on their design, and quite like the spiders in SS3... but it is on the list, just a ways down.

This is awesome! Then when it's done, you could also edit stats and such so enemies could have the same attacks.

Yeah,I was having the same problem when porting him to SSHD's Ugh-Zan. I ended up fixing the textures as much as i can,but it still looked shitty

In DNF, its legs work the other way around, but it works reasonably well.
I had to squeeze and squash the model quite a bit, but SS3 luckily has
really simple skeletons. It seems like a good game to learn to mod.

I haven't decided yet. So far I only planned to replace the mesh and simply not hook up the legs, making him "hover" a bit over the ground. Let me know if you have a better idea!

Well, I never modded anything before, so I have no point of reference ^^

Replacing meshes isn't the most advanced mod either I guess... I was mainly referring to the very low amount of bones in each model. It makes re-rigging the DNF models up really simple and quick.

QUESTION: How do I get rid of the guns of the Biomechanoid?

Open up Biomechanoid_Big_SS3.mdl, then go to "Children holder" and remove the rocket launcher models in the "RocketLauncher_L" and "RocketLauncher_R" attachments.

Just a small update: I finally found the textures for the Cycloid Emperor model!

It was a wild odyssey to track them down, I can tell you! Finally I found a Steam Workshop entry for Garry's Mod, but since I don't own that game I wasn't allowed to download it. Luckily the modder gave credit to the original guy who ripped the model - one certain oogaboogaman. The name was unique enough that a quick google search turned up a forum post from July 2011 where he supplied an extensive pack of Duke Nukem Forever enemy models, which is still available:

After downloading, I had to discover that the files were ported to some kind of .vtf format, which after a bit of research turned out to be some kind of proprietary Valve format. Luckily someone made a tool to port them back into .tga - what a mess!

But hey, good news, I won't have to repaint my own textures! And maybe there are further surprised in that newfound model pack...

I just figured I'd slap the textures on there and check him out ingame - but then I ended up searching for almost an hour until I found an encounter with him! XD

The mesh still has some quirks, and his upper half is quite stiff, but thats owed ro SS3s skeleton.

The more you port, the more often you'll find learning tools like VTFEdit to be useful. During my 'career' I've learnt to use a fair few tool kits in order to get the files I need. It's fun that way, always something new.

Todays Update:

A replacement for the Kleer! I never liked that boney thing, and realized that I had a pigcop model with armor on lying around. So I figured, more pigcops are always great!

If I am bored some day, I could replace all the bones that the Kleer explodes into with armor pieces of the Pigcop model... for now I am a bit lazy when it comes to gibs - and most of the time you dont inspect them too closely, anyway. Maybe once I am out of enemies to replace

Dude! You made that mod? I absolutely love it! Me and a friend had such a blast, since we both loved DNF. I am kind of on a mission right now to make SS3 even more like a crazy Duke Nukem Coop Bonanza.

I guess I am late to the party, but I will soon have a metric ton of DNF stuff to add to the Duke Collection

If you are serious about reworking part of the audiomod, the parts where you stright up took whole Duke quotes that barely fit the context had me laughing the most! (Like the dead pan "**** you" right at the start)

I always loved and hated the ridiculousness of Serious Sam's Suicide Bombers.
But I just had the best idea ever to make them work in a DNF setting, and couldn't
stop until I had it working in the game: Malfunctioning Dukeinators!

I took the Dukeinator Model some nice guy made a while ago,
quickly retextured it and changed its model as you can see.

Also, I recorded the sound of the broken Acting Unit from one of my Futurama DVDs
...maybe you know the scene? The one where they watch All my Curcuits where
everyone has Amesia? It always cracked me up, and now its in this game!

Now that I know what I am doing, it has become a relaxing routine to replace meshes. ^^

Question: Does anyone know how the very first intro level is called where the helicopter scene takes place? (I am thinking about replacing the Kleer head that the Camera pans over with a Pigcop head, but don't know which asset is used there)

It is in the same 01_Cairo.wld level (or whatever the first level is called), its just way outside of the main level.

Just hover all the way until you can spot a sand dune and find the kleer head

Phew, I spent entirely too much time to align all his fingers and mapping the vertex groups XD
But the Battlelord had such a similar bodyshape to DeeDee, that I wanted it as close as possible.

With this, the complete first level is completely Duke-ified
(You see DeeDee walking by at one point)

Wouldn't it be cool to replace the Spaceship Boss with DNFs Alien Mothership?!
I wonder how its weakpoints and hitboxes work...

Oh, and do you guys know if there exists a weapon mod that replaced the hammer with fists?
Somehow it would fit Duke better if he would simply kick and punch his way through enemies.
For now I am concentrating on the enemy models, though...
