You might wanna bump up the resolution of the weapon sprites. Seriously, model rips in the old Doom format just look ugly in general, considering that PNG with transparency is most likely supported in Zandronum.

Not going to do that, because i don't have the full resolution sprites anymore, i'd have to rip every weapon again, adding an high res model1887 would be impossible and they would generally look less smooth and clash with the pixellated world, basically the same issues as the old retro encounter, and well, the file size would be huge now that theres like 40 frames for each gun

That error only occurs when you try to load skulltag_actors.pk3 in Skulltag,but anyway, the doom2 wad included in the bfg edition is different from the original and i can't guarantee any support with it

Looking great, keep up the great work. ^^ Will definitely play it once it's officially released.

Although, personally, I don't think a flooded mostly-underwater map would fit well for DM (except for the surfaced areas, I guess).

A quick update:
After tweaking the game post-test (The player now spawns with 50 armor, lasergun is faster, minigun is weaker damage-wise,new traslucent bullet puff when you shoot a wall and bullet decals now work properly) i've also tested the compatibility with FreeDoom, and it works great.

Freedoom is a free open source, not copyrighted wad that manages to replace the original Doom2.wad, combined with a free source port,you can play doom without owning the game legally, and most of the mods are compatible,including mine.

It would be better to use Doom 2 WAD, cause Freedoom looks really shitty.
Its one of the worst Doom Remakes i ever seen.

Retro encounter uses the minimal stock resources since it's a TC, so loading the doom2 wad or the freedoom wad won't make any difference

Woo!

EDIT: Well. I played the SP map. Sorry, but it's not enjoyable at all. I can barely see anything, there's not much ammo and almost no health at all. Also using the mancubi (they have the mancubi texture in that low lightning, they are not pink) that early on is real BS. I could only beat the first one with infinite ammo on. And I was playing on easy! But we'll see, maybe it will be better on later levels with better lightning.

Still beta is beta, and we will certainly see a lot more improvements. Great job so far!

Very cool, though the campaign level could be made a bit brighter and some of the areas a bit bigger, I didn't like being crowded into one cramped spot. Amazing work so far though, can't wait for the finished product!

I played the Beta too and got one question: How do i create a Botmatch with a custom .WAD with Zandronum?

I wanna practise and see the DM Maps.

I agree maps can be a little bit brighter.

Testing the new Opengl hack that let's you have bloom on doom, with a quick match agaist bots.
It's not very stable, but this hack looks amazing, sadly it blooms out even the menus, so they look super-bright
