Lightbulb Star Citizen, because we like to talk about new games

So yeah, I don't really know that much about this one, but the reason I'm asking is.

I had this chance encounter today where I encountered a guy (with Alienware) who was playing the closed alpha of Star Citizen. I didn't ask very much because of NDA reasons though he didn't care, I mostly only asked what he was playing.

Not sure what he was playing the graphics on, it looked pretty good but the FPS was pretty low. (15-20FPS) aside from that HOPEFULLY we'll get a far better than No-Mans-Game like last year XD

EDIT: I would have put this into a certain thread, but a certain someone doesn't want me blogging anymore on S!.
So I figured "hey we haven't talked about this game yet", I'd be given another excuse to share this encounter AND start a topic on the game.

The Star Citizen YT channel uploads a video series called Around the Verse weekly. That is probably a good place to start for learning more about this game.

The game looks absolutely amazing, not only graphically but also technologically and in sheer scope. The fact that I really dislike MMO games yet I'm still excited to try it should give you an idea about it.

Again, it's likely not for me, not my type of game.

HOWEVER anyone looking for true No Mans Sky game should look into it IMO.

I've been a backer since the original funding drive back in 2012. The projected has expanded in scope massively compared to what was advertised back then, mainly due to the outstanding reception it's funding drive has received.

The alpha isn't NDA; anyone who backs can play. It's a really fun game.

My thoughts are almost exactly the same except I do not necessarily dislike MMOs, I just have never played one.

This game makes me want to live in a perfect world where every game can successfully be crowd funded and no one's vision has to be inhibited by cocksucker investors that don't give a rats ass about video games. However, I don't think it would be entirely unrealistic for Bethesda to crowd fund ES:6 and just go balls-to-the-wall with ambition like Cloud Imperium Games.

It's games like Duke Nukem Forever and Daikatana that stand as shining examples why we can't have game development unencumbered by things like deadlines and milestones. I strongly believe there are developers who are able to make better products when given enough funds and power over their own timetables, but sadly these are the minority.

And I think Bethesda won't be able to go "balls-to-the-wall with ambition" even if they crowdfund their next game simply because they lost their ambitious spark. Skyrim was miles wide but really shallow (I enjoyed Oblivion more) and from what I hear Fallout 4 is a huge step back from Fallout 3 complexity and depth wise in favor of settlement building. I feel the same way about Ubisoft and Telltale Games.

Yeah, this is what this guy was.

Gonna be totally honest, if Human Resources (tm) wasn't cancelled I would have backed that so I could get a game much cheaper after it came out, but yeah.

So I mentioned a while ago, every game that comes out now-a-days is a win-or-lose gamble, and backing said game puts you on the frontlines of that gamble.
