I just pre-ordered the Deluxe edition for $39.99 (20% discount in total.). Steam told me during checkout that I already had SS3 (Because I am a beta tester.) so I am not really sure if they will conflict or whether the final game will take the beta's place altogether once released.

Steam betas have different app numbers, e.g. SS3's id is 41070, and for example beta's 41075.

So you shouldn't have any problems with it.

I pre-ordered only to get classic ones, now that I've seen gameplay footage of SS3, I wouldn't buy it.

Question: if game A is equivalent to game B, then what the hell would be the point in making game B in the first place? I'm glad SS3 is trying to do something new and fresh with the series while retaining most of its core features, such as the crazy amounts of enemies and an even crazier amount of running backwards, many familiar bad guys and environments, etc.

I half-way agree with you Fiendian. I think they should keep everything from the previous games, then just add a sh*tload of stuff on top of it. Just my thoughts. :3
It would be very nice to have HD entities in the Sam 3 Editor. Who else agrees?

Me with a Thousand Suns.

It's more convenient, and more easier for newbies to make great maps and ease into the editor. Not everyone knows/learns Lua scripting, using only that is a huge wall of difficulty for most inexperienced mappers. SS1 has loads of great maps because it was not only documented, but it was also simple, without any scripting. SSHD's Editor is awesome imo, with the SS1 entities, and also retaining scripting and advanced entities as well; its only problem being not well documented.

I feel like I've posted this same post in every thread about SS3.

To create a more flexible mapping/modding package they could offer an optional gro file you can download to have access to a number of new entities that are not present in default SS3 to use them in SEd 3.5. Players would also need that gro file to play custom content that uses content from that file though.

Well, maybe Croteam could allow owners of the HD series to use the models and entities from it. Just let them loose.
Though I know it isn't that simple, but just sounds cool in my head.

Things I don't like in SS3 so far: melee, iron sights, reloading, sprinting and left4dead-style items.

I think those issues have already been discussed time and again. Iron sights and reloading are only for a couple of weapons; melee always was in Sam games, it's slightly different now but hey, it's optional - don't like it don't use it.

Sprinting isn't supposed to be used in combat but rather to help you cover large areas faster (you know, those boring times when you aren't shooting stuff) - thus it shouldn't affect gameplay at all. In other words, Sam's speed is basically the same, it's just that now you have Serious Speed on command (though I think you can't shoot while using it?).

Dunno what to say about the left4dead-style items, haven't really seen them properly yet, but I doubt that would have THAT great an impact on the game... (maybe it's just me)

Since you already preordered the game, you might aswell be optimistic about it and give it a shot when it comes out, you might end up liking it

Not that those really changes the game whatsoever, from what I've seen in videos.

Fiendian's idea sounds awesome. I dunno if SS3 will have the edit data of official content or not, but if it won't have, then they should have a downloadable gro file that has them, only for those people who want to mod the game. I heard the game would be huge if SSHD had them, probably the same with SS3, so this way, it won't be necessary for regular players to download such a large game.

Yes, Solais, this is exactly what we are considering to do. Not sure if entire content would be available with edit data, due to large sizes, but at least a hefty count of exemplary files will probably happen. We are considering cutting edit data even from worlds, to make patches smaller, and then deliver them all in a separate .gro file.
