Default SS:BFE Pax Thoughts!

Hey all, decided to FINALLY make an account here, I have been looking at these forums for quite a long time so better late then never!

Just finished my play threw of SS:BFE at Pax, couple of details here.

Weapons they had in the build:

1. Sledge Hammer
2. Desert eagle
3. Sub Machine gun
4. Mini Gun
5. Pump Shotty
6. Double Shotty
7. Automatic Explosive Shotty
8. Rocket launcher
7. C4-Charge(which I have not seen before)

I was hoping for the Mutilator but it wasn't there

As for the levels I played, there was two of them and they where both the ones that I am sure you have all seen in other videos (same levels in the Gaintbomb vid)

One thing that did catch me by surprise was the difficulty and how many enemies there where on the screen. I am a veteran SS player and I died a lot! Not sure what difficulty the game was set to but damn! Of course though I wouldn't have it any other way

If you guys have any questions regarding the feeling of movement or sounds of the game let me know and i will try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

Well when I first picked it up I did not know what it was . . . lol

But hot damn, its pretty slick that's for sure. It has a good kick and quickly made mince meat out of the biomechs and Werebulls

Differently will be a great addition to the line up of SS weapons!

You can't iron sight with it, but that's the beauty of it you don't need to

As for the reloading, I actually did not have to reload with it, though maby it was because I only had about 6 shots for each time i picked up the weapon. so not to sure on that.

I think he's talking about the "StickyBomb" that very briefly appears in the 10 minute leaked footage.

Maybe you stick it in the Gnaar's newly emptied eye socket.

Wait, that sounded dirty =/

Does the shell of the auto shottie detonate only on a creature or will it detonate if you hit the ground or a wall, as well?

And isn't this sort of a tribute to Turok? The Explosive Shotty?
Kinda cool. Hey, Sorlag, what about the enemies. How was the AI and stuff? Did it work well? And can you tell us how many enemy types you saw?

The enemies acted like any SS player would expect, kleers had the same attack patterns as well as the biomechs and werebulls, though for some reason the where bulls seemed harder to dodge not to sure why though they did feel a little faster than the norm.

in total i saw about 9 different enemy types, the Octocopter being the most awesome

all the rest where the usual cast of enemies, except the copter and the spiders and sand whale

The game still had some weird glitches like, some bizarre deaths out of no were like falling out of the world ETC and little animation problems. Course its probably the same build from the E3 showing, so I am sure that Croteam has fixed a lot of the problems already. But over all the game felt quite fresh! Loved the environments and more "realistic" look of the enemies.

What was cool though was I tried to just see how for I could get off the map, I was expecting to reach and invisible wall or something, but instead of a wall there's a giant sand worm that comes out of the ground and kills you lol! took me by surprise for sure

The funniest thing though was when you rip out a Gnarrs eye ball you can carry it around and throw it at stuff lol XD

Sorlag, in the future, please try not to multi-post like this. If you want to reply to more than one post, you can click the multi-quote button at the bottom right corner of each post you wish to reply to. That will bring all the quotes from those posts into a single post for you to reply in all at once. It just keeps the forums a little cleaner.

Carry-, and throwable eyeballs? Hehe, is the eyeball after pulling 'em out still bleeding? In that case we can make some gory graffity on the walls
Sand Whale and Scrapjack FTW!!!!

From what I saw in various gameplay videos, the [simple] shotgun also needs reloading. When You played, was that also the case? The shotgun needs to be reloaded every 10 shots?
Since I saw it on those videos, but could not find a word written about it anywhere, I decided to ask. Everywhere I looked, only the deagle and the assault rifle were mentioned as weapons with reloading required.

Yea the pump shotty needs to be reloaded, its kind of weird at first but it definitely makes the game harder, if your in the middle of a fire fight and have to reload it, it's a really scary feeling, especially with Kamikazes running at you

Well technically the DB shotty also needs to be reloaded but Sam automatically reloads it with two new shells each time you fire it.
But that's the same with every SS game.

the reloading mechanic sounds like a challenging new addition to BFE. I hope more weapons will have to reload.

Woah, throwing around the eye ball? Hilarious! Nice addition indeed.
And I personally just hate the reloading. Just doesn't look right to me, maybe just me.

A lot of guys are talking that reloading, sprinting, and aiming is not the best for SS games. But not everything can be arcade, we need to make a step forward with new SS! We must be happy from what we got - a felling of old-school shooter with some kinds of todays shooters improvements. That's equals cool for me. ^^

/\ The sights and sprinting = I could care less. The reload, however, felt out of place for me.
