Default TNE Graphics Comparison PS2 vs. GC

Hello everyone. Since the HD version of this game is coming out at some point, I thought I might showcase the actual difference in graphics between the two ports, for those of you that are interested in playing this classic again.

Down below are a few screenshots clearly showing the superior version:

From the first map on GC:

Same as before but on PS2:

Second map on the GC:

Again the same on PS2:

Here's a more closeup texture comparison, this one being on the GC:

And the PS2 counterpart:

As you see there's quite a difference in terms of the visuals in this game, especially on textures, lightning and shadows. Please let me know if you want more examples. It actually seems like they used this "gritty" technique on most of the GC textures (like what we saw in TFE and TSE), while the PS2 version is just washed out.

30MB connection here. File size is not the problem, it's the resolution. They stretch the site like hell.

Seriously, thumbnails should be forced by the site.

Unless when I use this nice blue color I totally didn't steal from Blizzard.

Nope.

But not the thread for that discussion. Judging from the screens the GC version suprisingly looks a lot better to me, far better lighting and textures. Wonder why since technically the PS2 is superior afaik, maybe they just did a poor job in porting it.

Though emulator settings can also play a role if you can adjust the texture filtering / AA on the GC emulator more (Pcsx2 screens should be taken with 4x hardware AA hack and texture filtering checked to be equal).

Nope 2X.

First - There should be thumbnailing, because as evidenced above, there are a number of people who hates the site being stretched out like this. I don't even get why the hell you really like to post pictures that stretch out everything and have to scroll to not only to see the full picture, but to read everything as well. It is nonsensical in every level.

Second - The GC was actually always stronger than the PS2 in raw power. However - as with other Nintendo consoles till maybe today's WiiU - the 3rd party support was way lower than of the PS2, so the PS2 got remembered being the best, though also actually being the weakest of all 3/4 in raw power.

There is already a discussion going on in the council regarding thumbnails. Please stick to the original topic of this thread.
