It sure is, i might remake Cicero's Villa or that level (with poseidon's statue?) take parts or maybe make more levels. Same for the egyptian levels, like the next one i'll make

All right, I'm on my PC now, so here's the feedback I promised:

First off, the screenshots look really Sam-ish, which is good. Keep that up. Here's some things I noticed though:

  • The areas look really small. I don't know if it's intentional as a breather area with few enemies, but it's not suited for bigger fights. Keep in mind that it's better to make areas too big than too small if you want players to fight there.
  • The sun looks (at least in the second screenshot) very bright, maybe a bit too bright. Also, maybe add a tiny bit of yellow to it for natural appearing lighting.
  • The models don't appear to cast shadows. Set the "shadows" property of the model to cluster shadows, and in the WorldSettingsController check the "Apply shading to models" property.
  • The models also don't appear to light naturally, the models in shadow and light appear to have the same coloring, so maybe you set the model's lighting property to "none" from "custom shading".

Other than that, keep up the good work.

Rule of thumb - if the camera zooms/unzooms too much while playing in third person, your level is too small

Of course I'm eager to improve. I started mapping since I was six, but some stuff I couldn't understand, like lightning and shadows and models. What I did was cloning brushes in the tutorial levels. That was my childhood.

I want you to teach me more..

Well I'd love to, but right now my ISP is fucking up major league and 90% of the time I can't get a stable connection, so I can barely use my PC properly except for the 5 minutes a day I have internet on there. I'm on my phone's data plan now, but when this is fixed, I will create a thread with a lot of helpful stuff for SEd1, okay?

One thing you need to keep in mind is that SSA was a console game.. and even worse, a handheld game. It was not designed for the level of action that exists in the PC games. So smaller levels and play spaces was perfectly fine on the handheld. But on the PC version it wouldn't be fun to play that way since you have much better controls and better hardware.

Unfortunately... this may mean you will have to go back and redo some things. But if you want it to be fun you might want to. Stretching the world out might help some but it also removes a lot of the finer details. As you get better you will be able to put new things in to make it look better than the original.

Just my 2 cents.

You could also make it a remake that loosely follows the story, theme and reimagined key points. Give it your own style.

That is what I usually recommend. I dislike ports. Especially old console ports. Re-imagine rather than port is best.

That was what I had in mind since I decided to remake it instead. The first level didn't satisfy me actually. Maybe in the future I will redo that.

Progress in the mod is going pretty slow because of school, but it won't stop. I guarantee it
