Post 2018

Well, 2017 has come and gone, meaning that 2018 is almost around the corner. It was a relatively good year for Serious Sam, and I think that now that Croteam finished the VR installments, the primary team is working hard on Sam 4 as we speak.

I presume that in 2018, the long awaited Serious Sam 4 may or may not be announced. Can I just say, by the way, that the weapons are one of my most anticipated factors of this game? I think it will be kinda like BFE's arsenal, with a few alterations and brand new additions as well (Chainsaw, Grenade Launcher, and Flamer, anyone?).

All that aside, I think 2018 was, again, relatively good. I did get accepted to the Southern Methodist University in Dallas as a Music Composition major in my hard work as a musician. Unfortunately, I ran out of things to say, so see you all next year.

Congrats Pootis! And yes... 2018 possible announcement and maybe 2019 release. We'll see. I'm maybe more looking forward to the HD Remaster and SS2 Remaster, but those won't come until after SS4.

With such long development time, it better not arrive with less than 50 levels, at 5 different locations, with minimum estimated time per level - 2 hours.

I will just keep my expectations low for now. I think SS4 will be less than 50 levels IMO.

I'm hoping Croteam is taking the Bethesda route where they release SS4 only a few months after revealing it.

I am hoping that the release will be soon, but I dont want another Duke Nukem Forever/Serious Sam 3 type of game.
I dont NEED the storyline. All it does is detract from the gameplay, and seems like its filler (at least those 2 games felt the same way to me. keep the pace down, make the player do stuff like search for keys, or disable guns, seems like a cheap way to make a super fast paced action game that didnt have enough content make it so the gameplay 'lasted longer'. But it wasnt a very good 'lasted longer', I would rather have had more gameplay).
I hope they go back to what they do best:
Big maps with lots of enemies.

Oh, and WHY in the world would they do another SS remaster?
Waste of time if you ask me. The current HD's are still very good looking, and play excellent as well. Why would they remaster it, and waste time and money, instead of making more SS 4 content?
Just wondering, and everything is just my opinion.

Maybe it's just me but I still think that the original versions hold up extremely well. SS2 could use a remaster though, or a patch to fix the random crashes.

I think before finishing SS4, Croteam should focus all their efforts on porting all the Serious Engine 3 games to Switch while it is still hot. We already know Talos can run even on those old Nvidia tablets and Switch uses same hardware.

Then spend the 2019 remastering all their games for glorious 4K on PC, Xbox X and PS Pro. Then make Talos Principle 2 and maybe in 2021-2022 finally start working on SS4 again, but not before they port all the 4K editions to the next generation of consoles and new VR headsets.
