Default WTF Ubisoft !?

Ubisoft just released Far Cry 2 on GOG for 9.99$, after they already released Assassin's Creed and Heroes of Might and Magic 5, which are also relatively new titles.

On one side Ubisoft enforces brutal DRM, on the other they release DRM free games on GOG. They have the biggest catalog of newer games there:

Don't know what to think about this publisher anymore ?

Maybe they are testing the waters of drm-lessness?
All those people that said they would buy the games if they didnt have such crappy drm?

Or, they are just trying to make more money from failed projects.

Either way, I see it as a good thing.

Most likely the latter.

This is a game I might actually try out, especially now that it is on GOG.

I say good job Ubisoft, keep up the good work.

HOMM5 and AC1? Go ahead.

But do NOT get Far Cry 2. Its in your best interest to save your money.

I have more than enough money, and besides, we have vastly different tastes in games.

Some people did not like Far Cry 2. These people are philistines who don't understand how to play and appreciate this game. You must immerse yourself in Far Cry 2 to enjoy it.
Sounds good to me...

I'm not sure what you base that on, actually. I know nothing of what you play and I think I take in a wide range of genres. Should probably discuss that sometime, it'd be interestin'.

Anyway the game itself is good. But ALL characters talk in rushed sentences and they all sound like they're in a hurry constantly. Kills my immersion.

I find the Jackal more than makes up for everything else. And the fires, oh they are so so so sweet!

Far Cry 2 is a great sandbox shooter and it can be loads of fun!

Anyway, on the subject at hand... Even if they're just testing waters / going for more profits with older games that don't sell anymore, I like what they're doing.

Hell, now I'm really doubting I should buy any more games from anywhere else unless I *REALLY* want to play them - no point spending money on Steam when I could be spending it on GOG. It's not like I have a shortage of things to play.

I think Far Cry 2 has great gameplay mechanics and an inredible open world environment. It just gets pretty repetetive because of the sheer amount of driving you have to do, plus the endlessly respawning enemy checkpoints.
