I can't guarantee that, i downloaded Fraps 3.5.9. Trial and try to record. That worked, but i can only record 30 seconds with the Trial. How can i change that?

Also keep in mind, i know its hard to believe those times, that i got no youtube channel and no Smartphone. Yes i never recorded a video til today from my pc. Am i the only one from Seriouszone who joined the server, are doom 2 demos ok too?

How do i record them ?

I only said that i try to get on the server, if your disappointing then there no videos that is your fault. Just of lack of communication and to high requirements.

1. You need to buy Doom 2 or Download Freedoom.

Freedoom you can get from here http://www.nongnu.org/freedoom/

2. Download and Install Zandronum, link on page 4. You can choose Portable Installation or Normal Installation. After install copy your Doom2.wad or Freedoom.wad file inside the Folder in which is Zandronum installed.

3. Download SS The Retro Encounter. Then put the downloaded file in the Zandronum folder.

Side Notice: The most Mods/Maps for Doom are .WAD or .pk3 files.

4. Howto Start the Mod, just Drag & Drop the file SS_RETRO_ENCOUNTER_B1.5.pk3 over the Zandronum.exe

If you start Zandronum first the program will noticed which, of his supported, games you have installed and let you choose, which should started.

Side Notice: The most Mods/Maps for Doom are .WAD or .pk3, so dragging the .wad or .pk3 over Zandronum starts the Mod.

Please give us a more exact request of what's wrong or missing.

TRE works only with Doom2.wad or Freedoom.wad

The .wad and the mod file must be in the Folder in which Zandronum is installed.

To play it select 'The Retro Encounter' in the selection window, not Doom2.

I do everything as You wrote. I have black screen when I open game and don't see menu etc.

Try to play normal DooM 2 and check if the same thing happens, you may have not configured Zandronum right.

Sorry but if you're getting a black screen it's not because of the settings, try to run doom in software, and then try to run it in OpenGL

Since some people didn't like how the weapons currently are, once a final version of the game will be released, i'll work on a "double resolution" pack which will be included in a post-launch update.


Right now, i did some major progress for the first map of the egypt expansion, i've updated dm04 to look prettier and to limit the sniper rifle a bit, and, last but not least...
I've added a recoil effect for every weapon
That means that the screen will shake a bit when firing, and the guns currently look alot stronger. Gameplay wise the recoil pulls your screen up a bit, but it will not happen if you're using iron sights

I'm also wondering if i should add 3d models for every pickup of the game, what do you think?

I kind of prefer them in sprite form. It's Doom, IMO you lose the charm once you start using models instead of sprites. (Maybe weapon viewmodels are fine, but models for pickups would stick out like a sore thumb.)

Well, it's possible to disable them if you don't like them, i'll never drop the compatibility with 2d sprites, so every model will have a 2d sprite of the same item

Make a version with and without 3d models if you like.

If Doom Engine allows to use it and it works pretty well, i can't blame anyone for givin' a try in 2013, i think.

Typing gl_use_models 0 in the console disables 3d models, so i'll not make different versions of the mod.
What's cool is that you don't have to reload the map to change the settings: you can dynamically enable or disable models with that code.

But, anyway, unless you've got a slow pc, why would you want to disable these cool models?
