I recently started playing the Unreal Tournament Pre-alpha. Now at version 0.1.10. I think it's a bit more than OK so far!

I gave it a try last year but I don't think it's really gone anywhere since then.

Yeah, same here. It just didn't have any real content when I played (more than a year after initial release) and having paid DLC in a game that is actually pre-alpha and anemic on actual game content is also a pretty big nail in the coffin.

Well, I finished Yooka-Laylee to 100% last night and I really enjoyed it. I was happy to see that the worlds got much better in the latter half of the game. The Casino level (showcased in a lot of the promo material) has got to be one of my favorite worlds in the game. There is also a very cool mini-galaxy world that has such a rich atmosphere.

This game is definitely a copy-paste of Banjo-Kazooie, but that is pretty much what the developers promised. I believe that people who didn't grow up BK will have a harder time with the game. I definitely had my frustrating moments, but I enjoyed most of the puzzles. If folks really wanted to, they could skip the more frustrating puzzles since only 100/145 collectibles are necessary to face the final boss.

It was refreshing to have a game that was actually challenging, I feel like too many games these days try to make gameplay as simple as possible. There were a few situations (first world boss for example) where the difficulty was artificially inflated by poor camera angles and/or poor controls. I felt like it was the exception more than the norm.

Either way, I'm still surprised by the overwhelmingly negative reviews it got. I'd give it a 7/10, but not the shoddy 2/10 or 4/10 by some reviewers. Granted, enjoyment completely hinges on how much you enjoyed those old platformers and are willing to deal with controls/camera that doesn't measure up to today's standards.

Rick and Morty's Virtual Rickality.

It's fucking cool. Best VR game I've played in a long time.

Also,
Morty is vegan now.
100% canon.

Just started Little Nightmares over the weekend and it is fantastic so far. I really love the art style of Tim Burton-esque and claymation and fits the atmosphere perfectly. Wasn't expecting the game to be this intense and stressful though. Gets my blood pumping when one of the "creatures" comes out and you are trying your best to sneak past them... then the floorboard squeaks and they run to your location. Then you hide in a corner as their bony fingers slither just a few inches away from your hiding spot... such a stressful experience, but I live for it!

Picked up Dawn of War 3 recently and it's alright in multiplayer. Doesn't quite live up to the past games in epicness and all, but there's some fun gameplay systems still and it plays very much like an old school RTS (focus on abilities and heroes, no cover and so forth). Probably wouldn't recommend it at its current price tag but once there's more content and races, sure. At least Orks are a lot of fun to play still

Also continuing NieR, replaying Ape Escape 3 as well and appreciating it a lot more. I still don't think there's a platformer with more clever and smooth controls and just fun design.

I've been replaying Dead Space 1. Truly amazing game, I'd say it's the gold standard for sci-fi horror. The only blemish is the subpar PC port: The mouse filtering is extreme and you have very little control over it, the mouse speed is influenced by the framrate due to engine timing, and often the Steam overlay causes the real cursor to appear and the only fix is a restart.

Well, I finished Little Nightmares last night. It was horrendously short (about 3 hours)... but it is also one of the most atmospheric titles I've played in recent memory. The music, the dark graphics, the atmospheric storytelling (nothing is ever explicitly told to you) all blend together for an incredible experience. Without spoiling anything, there was also a moment in the game that gave me huge vibes in relation to Spirited Away, which was a cool touch. The game definitely doesn't overstay it's welcome, but it also makes you hungry for more. I almost wonder, with a game who's primary theme deals with gluttony and greed, if this hunger for more wasn't somewhat intentional. Either way I plan on playing through it again to try to pick up on things I missed the first time around. The game was that amazing and can't recommend it enough. Just know, at 3 hours, you may not want to pay the retail price tag unless the idea really appeals to you.

This picture really sums up the uneasiness throughout the entire game:

Oh god, I completely forgot about mouse issues. I remember when I first launched the game I had horrendous mouse lag... like it took two seconds before it responded to my movements. Disabling VSync didn't help either. I seem to recall resorting to downloading a secondary utility to make it work, just can't remember what it was called.

I was really interested in Little Nightmares when I first saw footage but when I heard that it was going to be like Limbo, I decided against playing it. I might pick it up some day as I don't mind short games but I almost paid $35 for a boxed copy, which would've been a huge mistake if it's so short.

I've been playing Afraid of Monsters and Paranoia recently, both mods for Half-Life 1. I started them many years ago but I never got far for various reasons. I finished Afraid of Monsters and I think that it's an excellent game, especially for the modder's first attempt at something like this at a very young age. You can see the beginnings of ideas that would be more fleshed out and better incorporated into its successor, Cry of Fear.

Paranoia is fantastic so far. It's a Russian mod and as such, it sort of reminds me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. There are some freaky moments and there's a lot of tension in anticipation of danger, but it won't appeal to everyone, especially to kids who weren't around to play the original Half-Life and its associated mods way back when they were originally released. The soundtrack is also fantastic with the ambient pieces being as good as or even better than early Aphex Twin.

I'm currently divvying up my game time between The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn. Both games have incredible art direction and are beautiful and moving, but like you can expect from a Fumito Ueda game the gameplay is truly awful at times. I'll post some screenshots of both games soon.

I'm glad to finally see someone else who feels the same way. I picked up the Shadow/Ico HD collection many years back and I've never been more frustrated in my life with a game than I was with SotC. Figuring out the boss gimmicks was fun. Scaling the boss and looking for their weak point was fun. Attempting to control a horse with agility of a wet noodle was the complete opposite of fun. The amount of shaking that the bosses did was the most aggravating thing that I've ever experienced in a game. Once you figure out how to beat a boss, you shouldn't have to spend two hours whittling away at their health since you have 1/100th of a second to attack them before your stamina runs out and you have to climb them again.

Amazing concept with perhaps the worst execution of all time. I'd rather play Superman 64 than ever touch that game again. Later on, I read that more shaking was added to the HD version. Clearly they didn't bother testing it if this was actually the case.

That's a great way to describe it. These games have a very unique feeling and are really beautiful, but at times they make me so frustrated I'd almost tear my pubes out. Expect the same from The Last Guardian, but it's still a solid 8/10.

That's why I could never get into Shadow of the Colossus. It just wasn't fun for me. I liked the similar gameplay in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, though.

I've been playing the heck out of Injustice 2 the past few days. This is the first fighting game I have played in a couple years and I am really enjoying it so far. The story mode is one of the better ones I've seen in a fighting game. It doesn't feel like an archaic arcade mode and is instead a fleshed out storyline. The downside is that it locks which characters you can choose for each battle, but is pretty much necessary to keep the storyline cohesive. The facial animations are some of the best I've seen in a video game.

I'm also playing Watch Dogs a little bit on the side. I think my sentiment is aligned with the majority on this game... that it's "okay". The storyline is interesting enough and the hacking is something new, but it starts to feel like a gimmick and old after a few hours of gameplay. I'm also not a big fan of getting constant alerts on my phone such as "optional sidequest hacking activity available nearby!" I just feel like I'm getting constantly barraged by side content. I will probably play through the story mode, but won't play all the optional content, which is rare for me

Eh. I think Watch Dogs 2 is very vibrant and a really fun game overall, with a completely different tone than WD1, and all of the main characters are very likeable and relatable. Didn't complete it yet, but so far, WD2 did everything better, save for things that I hold as opinion (the main character and the storyline so far)

After 63 hours and 15 minutes I finished Horizon Zero Dawn. This is especially remarkable because I never bother going for collectibles or all achievements.

In short, the game is amazing. It's polished, plays very well, the open world is fun and the story/character progression are very well done. Not sure what I'm going to play next. Maybe Nioh, Star Wars: Republic Commando or replay Dead Space 2.

I watched most of that game on stream some time back, it did have a surprisingly captivating story. Kinda regret it since now I don't wanna play it myself And my PS4 is kinda collecting dust till this motherfucker comes out.

Just got back to Overwatch and tried the new hero Orisa, she instantly became my favorite tank, very enjoyable to play. Seemed simple to pick up with a high skill curve. Gotta hand it to Blizzard for their character designs. Considering it's a robot to begin with.

Don't be a pussy, the PS4 has some great exclusives. Also why didn't you want to play HZD?

Because I saw most of the game on stream, guess I just worded that badly. If I didn't know anything about it I might've been all over it.

I still do have UC4 left to finish, I'm nearing the final chapters there, just gotta pick it up again. Like with past Uncharteds, there's still too much combat in the game, I keep thinking I'd enjoy it more if it was more exploration.
