I think it's because E4M4 is meant as a breather level, to let you relax after all that hot shit.

Unruly Evil, right? That level is a joke. E4M6 or Against Thee Wickedly is really tough. I think E4M6 is the last hard level on Episode 4.

I like how scripted it was, the hud still shows the shotgun.

BFG is sometimes called Shotgun of the Ancients. So that makes a bit sense.

Looking (and sounding) great. My computer probably won't be playing this even on lowest settings without an upgrade though.

They somehow managed to mix e1m1 music with doom 3 theme and made it work. Also, as someone who never played the originals, this looks something you would get if Doom 3 and Serious Sam 3 had a baby (ss3 was all gore and had melee attacks too).

I'm not really a fan of the dubstep-y sounds, it made it felt like one of the modern Battlefield games again.

I'm worried about the gun sounds (too early to tell since this is a camera recording though).

Am I the only one who is worried about the executions? I don't want to stop every second to watch the same execution every time my chainsaw touches someone.
And I'm not sure about the ugly color palette, too much yellowish-brown, not enough contrasting colors.

Hm,as i said in E3 thread, doom 4 is interesting, but also a bit of a let down.

Not just those executions....i would dare to say it has rather poor level design, from what we can see, poor visual design (as in, visually impressive, but everything blends together far too much for my own taste), etc...

But still, looks fun enough to at least give it a try...

I saw one comment on RPS that talked about the visibility and contrast being bad and those were exactly my feelings, the monsters kinda looked like vague, grey blobs of motion against those monotone, brown-ish surfaces. Doom 3 has much higher contrasting colours and visibility (when it isn't pitch black), which is the one thing a fast paced, monster filled game like Doom 4 needs.

To me, the lightings were okay but needed a little touching, but the enemies and gameplay is great. I also liked it how they showed off all of Doom 4's weapons though they all look pretty good. Though apparently I'm told that there is gonna be a railgun on Doom now..

If it had a beefy, punchy sound effect and did serious damage it'd automatically be my favourite gun.

What do you guys think of the Snapmap editor? Would it be as good, or better, than Doombuilder or would it be the future of map editing?

Some thoughts from me after watching E3 Doom presentation:

1. Doomguy/ Doom Player is strong as Hercules.
2. Future Space Armors are have a crappy metal quality.
3. Item Design/ Auto collect of items is does not exist. Ammo is just random crap you collect.
I do not like that.
4. 'Dark/ Hellish Design' means today: your map should look like a Steel Factory. Shown maps looks to clean for me, like a clean Doom 3 Techbase.
5. Blood/Gore gives me the impression of cherry Juice.
6. Too much gore.
7. Bethesda Chief has no clue of where takes Doom 1 place, its not on Mars.

The gore part is okay, but they should be a setting for normal gore which would be less then what is on the presentation. I though wouldn't mind the gore, just as a like 'option' as extra gore. Maybe there is an option like that maybe there isn't .. And they still have the 'tropical' mars like as in the presentation in one of the clips from Mars City.. Im not sure where thats gonna fit. And also the jumping is a little too high as well..

I'd expect jumping to be easier on a planet as lightweight as Mars.

You ARE wearing a shit ton of equipment after all. I think there's just enough gravity to support you and the armor and the 9 weapons you're carrying on your back.
