It is based at a old GzDoom version + for Doom 2.

Did not work really good for me at the newest GzDoom version.

Ecwolf you can get there too, it is like ZDoom for Wolfenstein 3D.

Nice links, but is there a download for the doom 3 mod? There is one for the weapons mod but it doesnt work.

I normally use Doom Builder / 2 / GZDoom Builder / XWE and Slade to build my doom maps they're very easy to use

They should really finish Doom 4 a little bit faster (unless their team is tiny as), but they should remove the idea where you have too little ammo (and it's a bit silly that killing an imp drops, say some ammo or health)..

Btw, ZDoom Community still can create interesting projects like Soulcrusher, a Standalone FPS.

Requires Doom 2/ Freedoom.

It's a great initiative, I just hope they don't oversimplify it and give you limited options like the Timesplitters: FP map builder. Or at least I hope they'll release the developer grade tools for PC users.

If they gave you more options in the TimeSplitters map builder and real online support, that game would have been a best seller. Too bad Free Radical went tits up, though.

Sadly it was only limited to four or so themes, and you couldn't have any more. Plus you couldn't really build the maps as extensive as the singleplayer (like terrain, trees, etc..)..

Yeah, that's why it would be a good idea for id to release the developer grade tools on the PC at least, since that would give the creative folks way more freedom than a prefab map builder could give, thus prolonging the game's life.

The xbox versions should have simple geometry tools (such as Far-cry's editor like terrain and all) plus some basic CSG tools like a sphere or Cube or something.

Ha, they should make a mod to revert the lighting of the BFG edition back to the way it was before, it plain sucks.

The only redeeming factor for Doom 3: BFG is the new campaign and the fact that all classic Doom games are bundled with it.

I tried to make custom enemies for ZDoom, but failed because I don't understand a shit.


I want to give the Pinky Demon a projectile attack, so I copy pasted the Imp's fireball and paste it in but nothing works.

Did you read the DECORATE tutorials http://gunlabs.blogspot.de/2011/01/tutorials.html here?

By following his instructions you should be able to create something.

You would if you had played vanilla Doom 3 multiple times and enjoyed the atmosphere. Yes, the game is dark, but it's on purpose. Yes, in real life you could just tape a flashlight to your weapon, but that takes away the added difficulty of either managing your surroundings or taking care of opponents. They've taken that whole element away in the BFG edition because there's no pitch black anymore. I'll give you a perfect example of how they fucked up the game's atmosphere is now.

Eventually when you see the exit, he'll get attacked by an Imp, and you'll barely see a few light flickers as he's screaming for help and you'll find nothing more than some blood splatters. In the BFG edition the ambient lighting has been turned up, and you can basically see everything without even needing another source of light. You could just blaze through the complex, leaving your new friend behind. If you take him, you can even see him getting attacked the end (including mediocre animations), destroying any atmosphere there is.

I don't remember such a character, just those defense droids doing something similar, and they were helpful because it was dark. And I was planning to play D3 for years, and planned using a mod to have a separate flashlight anyways.
