Default Get Alan Wake now or never!

Or, wait for the 90% off sale, on both gog and steam.
They are pulling the Alan Wake titles because of song licensing issues.

The sale will start at 6pm on Saturday and end on Monday. After that, it’ll vanish into the mists like Brigadoon.

Haha, just logged in to make this thread. Stupid licensing and copyright and all that stuff, makes no sense. Will definitely buy the bundle. Too bad Max Payne is now owned by Rockstar.

Ya it's unbuyable now. Glad I snagged it back when I did. Real shame for those who can't play the game on PC anymore
It IS a really great game.

But hey atleast American Nightmare is still up!

EDIT/PS: Oh wait I almost forget, it IS possible to buy a physical copy of the game for PC (Those exist, I even found them in stores where I live), so I guess you could do that still, right?

Buying a physical copy of the game should definitely entitle you to the game. The only question is whether or not the physical copy was still a Steamworks title (i.e. came with a Steam key). But, I think Steam still has to honor un-redeemed keys, even if the title has been pulled from the store. But I'm not 100% sure about that.

Anyway, Remedy said they are trying to renew the licenses on the song tracks, so this is probably only temporary and will eventually come back on the stores. But since the music industry can be a bitch, it might take some time to get things reacquired.

Makes you wonder how many other games are at risk of being pulled at any time because of expired music licenses. This is surely not a one-time situation.

You can, you can still buy keys for Ride To Hell Retribution off site for example and activate them; this is how I got Clive Barker's Jericho on Steam.
However I don't know if Steam will allow it for games they have "cut all business with" like digital homicide's stuff.

I'd imagine they'd have to "re-release the game" for this to happen, and honestly I don't think Rockstar will see it has a valid use of their time

That's a really good question, all I can hope is not anything I'm planning on buying 0_0. (I was luckily enough able to snag Star-trek 2013 before it was pulled, even gave Devo a copy! I still have no idea why it was pulled)

Nah... it wouldn't require a re-release. Renewing their music licenses basically gives them the right to make money off the game again. That's why existing game licenses aren't revoked, since the sale has already been made. So once the licenses have been renewed, it is a simple manner of activating the product again on the digital marketplaces.

Thing is, I'm sure this thing is happening behind the scenes all the time with older games. It's just that the development/publishing team manage to renew the music licenses before they expire. Because no smart musician would sign away their music license for perpetuity. But this isn't unheard of... Rock Band had to pull a bunch of their DLC songs back in the day because recording labels didn't want to renew.
