Default Wolfenstein II

So, wanted to make a thread about Wolf II.

Here is 47 minutes of playthrough:
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/201...w/#more-479819

It looks to me, that they went backwards from the 2014 Wolf.
Why I say that is, because the 2014 Wolf brought back all guns all the time, no releads (that I remember, so if there was it was unmemorable), and fast paced gameplay.

The new one (which comes out next month) seems to regress back to the slow, cover based, reloading, hiding just to get through 2 minutes of play so as to not die, type of the common fps game of late.
AND, they put in a weapon to be able to open a single door. Way to slow it down even more.

I was going to give it a go, but I think I will actually wait for a steep sale on this one.

Just my opine.

All the previews that I've seen feature BJ going balls to the walls. Cover is used very minimally and usually just revolves circle strafing around some kind of structure, usually in order to avoid taking damage while reloading. It actually feels truer to classic Wolf 3D game play and it seems like way more of a fast paced action game compared to Wolf 2014.

My only criticisms so far are the season pass bullshit and the direction they went with BJ. Apparently some people aren't aware of what happens to him although they clearly revealed it all the way back in the E3 trailer, so I won't spoil it here. I would have gotten this day one if not for the season pass. I really enjoyed The New Order and I'm glad that this series is getting attention especially when so many developers today are focusing on half-assed run of the mill online shooters with terrible campaigns.

Well, I got it on the steam sale 50% off = $30
So far, I have to say its a better looking Metro 2033 game.
Not unhappy so far!

These install sizes are killing me. I've always preferred hard copies of games and this is just another reason in favor of it. The problem is that hard copies nowadays are just empty boxes with a Steam key. Internet speeds haven't kept up with increasing download sizes or rather ISPs are keeping a strong chokehold on high speed access.

Well, I am liking the game the more I play it.
It really reminds me of Metro 2033, with more environmental stuff (MUCH more), and Wolfenstein (FAST combat, Nazi's, some really weird stuff going on like since the reboot) thrown on top of that.
Makes for a pretty darn good combination game.

Also, they toned down the 'silly' aspect of the game.
Even the diner part of the game was more serious than the early video showed, and a couple other places also, which is a very good thing, because it creates a kind of dark, insidious, brooding kind of game (more in line with TNO, although I think this is darker than TNO was), rather than the silly 'Aha! The Nazi's Won The War, young fellow! And hilarity will ensue!' that was shown in the preview video's.

Glad I got it though. VERY fast paced shooter (when you use the fov to 110), that the more I play, the more I WANT to play.

I still have not finished it yet.
But, I get to play so rarely, I am not surprised you finished it before me.
I kind of got bored with it, like I did with Doom, in the middle of the game.
But, I played it a few days ago and it got fun again. I think it was that its a different location now, in town instead of that dang submarine all the time. WAY too much time in the same looking hallways all the time in the first half. They could have switched locations about 1-2 hours sooner than they did, and it would have been much better, how to say it, not paced, but kind of paced, if you know what I mean, lol.

I still have yet to pick this up but I've been reading some user reviews and it seems to have gotten a lot of criticism. Apparently the game was a step back from The New Order. Even without playing it, I can already say that I won't like some of the characters but hopefully the shooting mechanics are good. The New Order is one of the first modern games that I took to nearly 100% completion because I enjoyed it so much. Same for Doom 4.

Well, the shooting is almost as good as tno, if not as good.
Not much sneaking parts either, which is good for me.
It did get super good after the slow mid part.
And, I am even playing the after game finished missions, where you track down ubercommanders, but have to do a puzzle thing to unlock the locations first, and have to talk to crew members to get the end side missions.
It is rather fun now, since its a mechanic I personally havent seen before, and you get to have actual conversations with people you saved, and that are on the ship, and you have to listen. I like that much more than reading a journal, or postcard, or some sort of writing.
And, it makes the game that much longer, and you find stuff you might have missed before.
It really is fun. Maybe more fun the last half game than the 1st half.
My opinion only.
