What is this?
The Exhumed Encounter is my first and current Serious Sam project and mapset. The Exhumed Encounter is loosely based on and inspired by maps from the PSX and PC versions of Powerslave (otherwise known as Exhumed in Europe)

Why make this?
  • Because the Serious Engine is most ideal for this project due to it's capability far exceeding the capabilities of the SlaveDriver or Build Engine
  • Because I want to at least put a dent in the drought of single player mapsets for Serious Sam
  • Because I am kinda jaded with the Doom community (due to that community's hard core "creative" conservatism and overall blind worship of Vanilla Doom based and Boom based sourceports and their seemingly outright blind dislike of ZDoom based mapsets and mods) and I wanted to generally start over and for me, making maps with SED1 (the variant that Revolution has) is a chance at a new start, this community is still young and open minded.
  • Because I believe this has the potential to be an awesome thing in of itself.

Do you have any concrete plans for this project?
I do have a few plans, some of which are dependent on SSR's continued development as a Serious Sam Classic Sourceport.
  • Hopefully when the feature to create custom enemies becomes available I would like to recreate a few of Powerslave's enemies to add to this project bestiary, such as the Mummies, the Anubis Zombies (which I will rename to Anubis Warriors), The Bastets and the Terrarians (tiny blue scorpion enemies, slightly smaller than a Marshhopper), as well as the three boss enemies (Set, Selkis, and Kilmaatikhan the Kilmaat Queen)
  • Also I am hoping the feature to code custom weaponry becomes available as well due to my interest in adding just the Cobra Staff, the Amun Bombs and the Ring of Ra to Sam's arsenal. (The Cobra Staff in all versions of Powerslave fired a homing serpert project but not very rapidly. It's kinda like the rocket launcher of Powerslave so to speak, the Amun Bomb is an accurate grenade that explodes on impact with any surface or any enemy and the Ring of Ra fire a shitton of tiny bouncy projectiles)
  • There's a few songs in the Powerslave OST that either need "Peace" or "Medium" variants of themselves and unfortunately I am no musician, I also do not have the money to hire Ms. Valens and I am hoping for some volunteer musicians.

Progress Notes (Updated)
  • one of the problems that had me eventually leaving the Doom community was the lack of feedback I got in proportion to the amount of views my thread got. I don't care if people simply say "it looks good" or "I like it", Any feedback is appreciated. (My problem was that I barely got any feedback but got a frustratingly high amount of thread views meaning that I know people are aware of my project but are hesitant to say anything whatsoever)
  • I would deeply appreciate some volunteer modelers, due to my desire to recreate some of Powerslave's unique props to make it stand out a bit from SSFE.

All this, everyone, look at all this. This is really awesome! Even if I wish it was for SSHD, I still love the design and the quality of this.

(They kinda remind me of the SS1 Alpha Tomb levels, especially the colors of textures, which are actually quite cool.)

I like it already. But some of your plans would be much easier to accomplish if you were doing this for 1.07 instead of Rev; there's a SDK available that allows the creation of new enemies and weapons with ease. In fact, there is a CustomEnemy entity done long time ago, it just seems that Angelo/Scratch wants some practice in coding so he probably won't be asking me for the source code, instead redoing everything from scratch.

Alright, If anyone wants to help out on this project then here is what I need assistance with:
  • Beta Testers, for testing out the current levels (Roy has indicated that he is willing to test the coop portion of this mod, but he has not given me a date or time yet.)
  • Debugging Assistance, for assisting me in dealing with a certain set of truly weird bugs such as the "triggering chain broken" bugs that seem to affect a few entities in E1M2
  • Texture Artists, to help me enhance and port over some of the remaining textures from the PC version of Powerslave. The stuff that I am having some trouble enhancing are the textures with murals and hieroglyphs on them as well as some of the organic and alien ship textures in the last level of the PC version
  • Prop modelers, for recreating a handful of props from both versions of Powerslave as well as the Four Key items that unlocked doors in both versions. PM me for further details
  • A few Volunteer musicians as I clarified in the OP. If I could hire Ms. Valens I would but quite frankly I don't have a dime to my name.

The "triggering chain broken" error indicates that something had to be triggered by player, but was triggered by some other entity instead. For example, if Trigger has a "Message" parameter set to some string, and you try to call it from MovingBrush Touch target, then it will give you this error. You'd have to reroute your triggering chain in a way that guarantees that the event will come from player (TouchField -> Trigger, or WatchPlayers -> Trigger).

Angelo, if you want something for the Rev, then you must ask for it.

Yeah I get that too, it's a tad annoying but at least nothing malfunctions though (or so I know). I don't know why it has to be triggered by the player instead of a moving brush or something.

I like when stuff from other games comes to Serious Sam (Like my deathmatch map), If I only get SSR (So after two years, or three), I'll download this mod!

Due to a recent Fiasco involving Montycoral's persistent, irrational, creepy and downright invasive behavior I am hereby putting up a few ground rules for those who want to beta test the mod as well as requiring those who are interested to fill out a form.
  1. You must have an above average mastery of the English language. This is to prevent communication confusion due to the fact that I tend to be verbose in my word choices.
  2. Once you send your form, don't badger me. I will refuse you right off the bat if you badger me.
  3. Do not subscribe to me on my you tube channel to get my attention, It is a surefire way to get me to refuse your request; especially since I am not a subscriber whore and I hate gaining subscribers.
  4. Do not message me about this mod on the Exhumed/Powerslave texture resource pack on steam because:
    • That is the wrong place to ask about the mod
    • I don't appreciate people badgering me about the mod there
  5. There may be times where I am talking a reprieve from working on it, that is not an invitation to badger me about it.
  6. and finally, "Don't call us, We'll call you". Which means exactly that.

I've Tried to' build a remake of exhumed/powerslave for zdoom and eduke32 using doombuilder and mapster32 but i've never pubblished a link because are still unfinished...the project files are still in my pc...

How? I mean, as you've said, it's a work environment, not a political battleground. Unless this somehow ties directly into Powerslave / Exhumed, I don't see any reason why this should be any kind of requirement.
