Default Serious Sams Bogus Detour

Hi Guys

I just wanted to say, that a little while ago, me and my friends started to develop a new Serious Sam-indie title, called Serious Sams Bogus Detour.

Here's the first official picture of the game, I present:

http://zfight.com/misc/images/ssbd/bogusdetour.png

We are three guys sitting in Sweden, we just recently made the game Hammerwatch, so this will be our second game together actually.

Thanks to the guys fixing my account, this is why problems occur: You last visited: 08-26-2001 =)

I've yet to try out Hammerwatch but it did look fun. This should be interesting coming from the same devs, so good luck with the project.

Ohey, so that was Hammerwatch! I remembered the game being played by the Yogscast then forgot the title and couldn't find it anymore. Huh.

It's very interesting to see an already somewhat established developer creating a new SS indie game. I suggest contacting Croteam and Devolver soon, so you'll be able to publish it without problems.

Well, this is an official game, we already signed with Croteam. We woulden't have done it othervise.

The entire thing spawned with me wanting to do an easteregg in the HW-expansion, so I contacted Croteam about using some sounds from FE and then we started talking and I made a mockup on how we could make our take on a SS game.

This was the easteregg:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZxekkn_B-0

And this is the mockup, the walls comes straight from HW in this image:

Might I sincerely recommend giving the HUD a "First Encounter" shade of Green or a "Second Encounter" shade of light blue and maybe even tweak the HUD elements to be more like the HUD elements from SSHD FE or SSC FE? (Serious Sam HD and Serious Sam Classic respectively)

Hehe, that was a mockup image =) The hud will probably not look like that.

@ AntonioR, no we don't, the game is in early development! We are developing our new engine concurrent with the game.

It's gonna be completely moddable with Steam Workshop.

I like that the female gnaar is based on viper's gentlemanly gnaar mod.

Haha, yea, our artist just made it for the mockup, we will need to contact the modder and/or leave it out of the game if he won't like us having it in this game.

I plan to have Gnaars "themed" in our different environments, the next them is a Western/Australian theme, where Gnaars will have Cowboy hats and throw boomerangs.

Here's the current line up of Power Ups that will be present in the game:

Yea, they will be very present in this game.
Most SciFi parts, small bases and stuff will be populated with these fellas.

And if anyone wants a key to Hammerwatch, just to try it out or whatever, send me a PM or add me on Steam, it's Hipshot with the same avatar.

Hey, I have some questions about this game :X
1. Will it have any mods support?
2. Will be be 4-coop, or less\more players?
3. I love this landscapes style. But will there be some winter\palenque, etc.?

I will present a better list of features, perhaps tomorrow, however:

# Full mod support, you will be able to edit all game related features via Angel Script and XML and create levels via our editor, the same one as I use.
# 4 Players
# Right now, I have four acts planed, these are Egypt (ofc), Australia, Rome and some strange SciFi - I would love to do winter, but I think it will have to be some kind of expansion, if this sells enough for us to do one.

I hope people understand, that these features are all subject to change, until the game is released, it's difficult knowing exactly what's gonna be in the game, since it's a good long while until we are done =/

Still, it's surprising someone other than CT can get the rights to make their own sellable Serious Sam game too. Or is this under that Serious Sam Indie Games project license?

Why is that surprising to you? Croteam has a long history of supporting fan-based and indie projects that are part of the Serious Sam IP. Heck, Next Encounter for PS2/GC was developed by a different studio that licensed the property.

All of my dealings with Croteam have always been very supportive and they love to see their games get love. One of the few developers out there that shows so much support, which is why I love them

I don't think I can answer such questions, since it's really a company/contract matter, sorry.
I can pretty much talk about everything else about the game, but I would like to stay away from questions like that! =)

All I can say is that CT gave us this chance and we are 100% dedicated to this now, how political that sounds =)

Hipshot,
Totally unexpected! Hammerwatch is a great game and SunTemple definitely showed many improvements in level design and structure. Sam definitely seems like it would be a great fit for that style of game, and I can't wait to play it! Looks good so far.

I also find it interesting that your join date is earlier than mine

Well, I don't know about all the beheadeds, we have a lot of our own monsters to add too, however, I was thinking of having a beheaded rocket launcher guy.
In what game is there a Serious Spam? My first powerup idea for this was to have a Serious Spread, that worked like in Contra, you shoot at several directions at once, however, it was replaced with Serious Infinite, that give you infinite ammo.

I didn't even know SS had fishmen until you said it, we made these cause I felt we had to have some fitting enemies around the water, along the beach, so we have crabs and these Merlocks, which for some strange coincident actually are called fishmen when you place them in the editor =)

I was actually looking at other voice actors cause I just figured that it would be difficult getting the real actor to do some lines for us! I'll contact you in the future for sure! And I'm glad you liked Hammerwatch!

Having just tried Hammerwatch, I think it's a perfect match for Sam indeed. Really looking forward to it, especially the RPG features.
