Default Idea for a horror mod

Although I'm a Serious Sam fun for a long time now, I'm new to the community. I also understand nothing about creating mods. But what I do have is ideas for mods! Too many actually...

This is just one of them: Have anyone thought how the Serious Sam gameplay could actually fit a horror game?
I'm not talking about just making everything darker and putting jump scares everywhere, I have quite a few ideas of how to turn the gameplay into a mixture of a horror and a dark action game, and play with elements that already been in SS.

The problem is, as I already said, I know nothing about modding, nothing at all. So if someone thinks its a good idea, I kinda need help with that..

Yes, and I have actually attempted it (not referencing my Slender map). I'm not good enough at SE3 mapping to actually make it either, though.

Well i guess for start, it would help if you explain a bit better what exactly do you have in mind (Beside it being a horror).

Ideas that mostly involve playing with the lights and darkness. For example, you can't see where the enemies come from, only hear.
Or making some enemies partly invisible (like the invisible gnaars), or have glowing eyes.

I won't get into details and spoil more ideas here since if this mod will happen, I don't want some people to already know what the game will throw at them.
But what I mentioned is basically what i need, playing with lights, and changing some enemies appearance.

Well, i can't tell a lot tech-wise, i'm a bit rusty with Sed, but i think it's doable, but you have to understand it takes a great deal of work.

For example, you mentioned various enemies...to make nice enemy model, it takes quite some time. And you need someone who is atleast somewhat experienced with these things, because models of enemies have to have certain mesh topology, so that they can animate correctly.

Regarding lighting and such...not sure how much dynamic light SS3 has, but from what i hear, that should be doable atleast to some degree.

So, i think most of these things is doable, but just make sure you understand what it takes to create new enemy model from ground up, how to create assets, maps etc. What your are trying to do is quite a huge task, but sounds fun.

If you will need some help with actual modelling or texturing, i guess i can help with some advice, giving you some resources for learning and such (like maya, 3ds max, zbrush, photoshop, etc)....

Where is the Describtion of the idea here i wonder?

And now gnaars 1st take: Sam is trapped inside a Pyramid, in a Room or Labyrinth, with less lights.

Then whats the Danger? Which Trapps?

reminds me of an old SCP-087-B mod I did once called the "The cursed tomb", pretty much same gameplay but with Serious Sam sounds and textures

Well, creating new enemies could be great, I do have ideas for that, but for now taking existing enemies and just changing something in their look, things like adding glow on parts to their body, would probably be enough.
I'm not expecting to start from something too big (even tho its already too much for me... ).

I thought about making more then one mod like this, since I have ideas for both what you can do in TSE HD and BFE.

I do understand what it takes to create a new enemy model from ground up, but you're right, its a huge task, all I can do now is drawing and the very basics of Blender... and I would be bad at map design even if I knew how to do that lol

Resources for learning would help! As I said, I only know few things in Blender, and I can use Photoshop (at concept art I can actually be good... at least sketching). But I might need help from other people anyway.

I actually thought about something else, but your idea is better! Sam trapped in a pyramid.
No word about what kinds of rooms will be there and what traps, don't wanna spoil anything here!

Do you remember any sewers levels in the Serious Sam games? Or any levels where its dark? For example when you get into a pyramid and 1st time in the darkness meet those monkeylooking aliens? Or whenever you don't see where the annoying fish you hear is coming from?
There was a potential of creeping you out at few points of the games. If the original game did it, why shouldn't it work in a mod that just plays with those ideas more?

Obligatory self advertising post. I already made an experimental short campaign for SS3 called Badmoon Bog which is sorta half horror in terms of atmosphere (making heavy use of custom sounds for instance to create tension), if you're interested in checking it out there's a link in my signature. Might be what you're looking for.

That fatecraft image is pretty reminiscent of the artwork used in Bastion. Really nice to see colours for a change!
