Exclamation A Gauntlet style mod is in the works for SS:TSE, and we need a little help. :)

Well, it was bound to happen, a few friends and I have decided to start a up a Gauntlet-style mod for SS:SE since no one else had one in the works, and the Gauntlet-style gameplay fits so well with the Serious Engine.

We have already modeled most of the models (both player and monsters), and started to animate them too. Our coder and texture artist are making progress in their deparments as well. We do need some extra help with the mod (mostly mappers/level designers).

For more information about the mod (storyline, gameplay mechanics, etc.) click this link at Hexdot. If you want to help us out with the mod, either PM me here or sign up at Hexdot and apply for whataver position is listed. To apply for the mod, make sure you are logged in with Hexdot and click the "Join this project" link next to the project member list.

Thanks for your interest

Yeah I haven't been into an arcade in like 10+ years, I used to play all the classic games all the time: Sinistar, Pac-Man Joust 1 & 2, Gauntlet 1 & 2, Super Dodge Ball... Too many more to list here.

Vigilance, also is there any other sites besides www.hexdot.com where I can find people to help out with our mod?

Hey sounds way cool - I played the gauntlet series way too much.

Good luck with it, I for one will be keeping an eye open on this.

I'd be willing to spend an afternoon doing it. I'm gonna stop short of completely commiting myself to it though, I already have to many irons in the fire. If you send me a script, I'll probably do it some afternoon when I'm bored and need something fun to do. No promises, but it sounds like something I might do on a whim.

email a script to johnjdick@yahoo.com

Thanks booger!

We are still finalizing the script, but I think the only type of spoken words that will be needed are the "(insert player here) needs (insert item here) badly!" voices and also the taunt voice(s) for the various bosses.

What we really do need more than anything now are mappers/level designers that know the Serious Editor well and can make some great co-op/single player maps.

Mostly outdoor themed maps.. kind of like the medieval ones in Second Encounter, but some areas will have caves and stuff so it will be a mixture of both indoor an outdoor areas in some areas.

No, we don't really have any official mappers yet.

Everyone one onteh team is slowly trying to learn the Serious Editor, but we figured it would be better to get some people that know what they are doing with Serious Editor to map for us.

Red Warrior is about to die.

Gauntlet rocks! Mods like this and robotron are good for this engine.

Yeah hopefully our mod will be. Also, we were thinking about adding some one-liners for the characters to say during battle. I don't know if you guys remember that Monolith game, Get Medieval. It came out about 2-3 years ago and it pleys almost exactly like Gauntlet, but they gave the characters personalities. LOL the Warrior character had an Arnold Schwarzenegger-ish voice and whenever he killed some enemies he would say "TERMINATED!", and when he died on his last life he would say "I'll be back!".

Anyways, we can't do much without a coder yet so we are mostly working on models, skins and animations for the time being.

I have that game. I would have to say that you shouldn't give them personalities and just have the deep announcer voice guy as the only voice.

I sure do play gauntlet a lot though
Gauntlet NES
Gauntlet 2 NES
Gauntles 2 Gameboy
Gauntlet Legends N64
Gauntlet Dark Legacy Gamecube
Get Medieval
And I've played the original Gauntlet for Arcade

For people that never played gauntlet
http://www.klov.com/G/Gauntlet.html
http://www.klov.com/G/Gauntlet_II.html
http://www.klov.com/G/Gauntlet_Legends.html (The arcade machine seemed harder than the console version)
http://www.klov.com/G/Gauntlet_Dark_Legacy.html
http://www.klov.com/G/Gauntlet_(PlayChoice).html (Playchoice machines were basically nintendo games and you would put quarters in and you would get more time)
