Sweet. The mind reels at the possibilities of creating similar contraptions. Kinda makes me wish I had stuck with level design.

Just in case you guys didn't know, this was created using Garry's Mod, a mod completely based around physics/ragdolls... you don't need any map design ability, just creativity along with knowing how to handle a gravity gun (and patience..)

Metric tonnes of patience. I find it a pain in the ass to do anything with it, and I usually have an infinite amount of patience.

Pity you can't actually tell what's going on for a lot of the time. I kept rewinding to try and figure out what had happened. Are there any better quality versions?

hahaha second one was better with ragdolls but the quality was crap.

Just funny the way you just heard a soldier dying and then seeing a flying corpse land on something. This'll be fun to do in SED2

That's why I don't usually download mods for game unless it's a really good one *Thinks of Fragman's Xbox mod and BTBA*

Damn Spoon I had to go through at least three or four links of upload websites until I finally got to one that you download off. Thank's for the link anway

The mod can be used for more than just cool physics stuff. Here's a few scenes I made in Gmod (no photoshopping was used except to resize the pictures.)

http://upload.localnetsys.com/upload/february06/canals1thumb.jpg

http://upload.localnetsys.com/upload/february06/canals2thumb.jpg

http://upload.localnetsys.com/upload/february06/coast1thumb.jpg

The first 2 were taken in the place where you kill the helicopter, and the third one was taken on the coast. It just goes to show the freedom you have with the mod, and the ability to create an atmosphere (even turning day into the perfect shade of night that you envision)

I have 1600x1200 versions of the first 2, but only a 1024x768 version of the third..

Indeed, very impressive! How about linking to a high-res image so that we could use it as a desktop image (if you don't mind ). I'd particularly like the first one, definately beautiful.

If I remember right, I posed the headcrab there, then played with the mod's color/contrast/brightness modifiers until i got it to look exactly how i wanted (that's how it looks like moonlight instead of the level's original setting of sunset). Also, I set the depth of field so that the headcrab was in focus but the background fades out.

Same basic idea with the first one.

The third one, I posed the antlion next to a real thumper on one of the single player levels and balanced the colors/bloom to what I found to be the perfect 'mystic' atmosphere. Made the blue (sky) and the green (ground + antlion) stand out, with a brooding appearance of the thumper overlaying both. I ended up taking around 10 different shots of this one in order to find the right dust positioning from the thumper that I wanted.

Oh yeah and a piece of advice: when trying to make pictures like these, use the static camera prop to take pictures instead of just doing it in first person and removing your hud. With the static cam, you place a model pointing a certain direction, then you hold a specific button and it will move your view to where that camera is pointing. This way, you can find that perfect angle and still be able to freely make any tweaks you want without the risk of losing it.

Also how do you rotate things? I'm tired of swinging stuff around with the special weapon until it's in the right position (Even though it looks funny with ragdolls)

If some of you like those comics you can make with Gary's mod, come over to my showcase and take a look at some of my attempts
