Lightbulb mapping contest

I uploaded this map to file front

http://files.filefront.com/quest2gro.../fileinfo.html

RULES:

you cannot alter or move any terrain or objects in the level
you can add any models like door or anything to just make it prettier

you can change/ add lights, particle effects, sounds, music

everyone must use same start point

the goal of this is to not take any thing away from the base map and make it your own
Deadline: TBD

i made this map and i was curious to see how others would make a level out of it

Nice map! It has great atmosphere, nice architecture despite a few missing faces, and a branching, spiralling layout that should unfold nicely once the mapper adds a few doors.

I don't know if I'll have time to enter. We'll see.

Uhhh... are you sure about this, Vern? Without moving or changing anything, all the maps made from this one will look exactly the same.

Not only that, but everyone's map will have those missing faces on the bridge, those missing faces on that one cliff off to the right, those gaps you have to jump across between the wooden platforms, and whatever other minor errors I might not have noticed yet.

And without doors, the gameplay will be extremely unstructured. The player will get an objective, like "go to the temple," then wander around trying to figure out which way the temple is. He'll trigger three battles just seeking cover from the first battle. There will be nothing to stop him from rushing through all the enemies and ending the level early.

I'm not saying it can't be done. In fact, I have a couple sneaky ideas on how I could squeeze the most joy out of this layout without doors. I just think you're handicapping most mappers by preventing us from fixing anything. You're going to end up with 20 identical maps with just different lights and monsters! What fun is that? What incentive would there be for players to play through all those nearly identical maps?

What I think he meant is that you can't edit or remove what's already there but you can add your own models

He didn't mention anything about re-texturing though

retexture your hearts out redo shadow maps ADD what ever you want just dont take anything away

the point is to see the way different mappers take different approaches to the same map layout. kinda like a dev team would like "heres the map make it playable to your own style"

Edit: Hmmm....I dunno

If you'd just made the terrain and let us re-texture it and stuff then I'd probably have entered

I'd offer to judge, but I'm worried I'd be too critical.
