4 player split-screen-coop, TO THE MAX !!!

http://i.imgur.com/DeimD.png

Here you can see the full animated gif.

OK, I am cheating a bit... the game only detects one joystick, so actually 2 player split screen is only available (player 2,3 and 4 read same controls), and joystick controls aren't working well, but hey... small steps

Note: While recording the frame rate dropped to 30 FPS, so the "physics" are broken more than they actually are

Stop using .gifs. My shitty internet makes it hard to view them due to extended loading times. USE A VIDEO ITS MUCH MORE PRACTICAL =P

I didn't try retro games for ages, but now you have a chance to change it

I have changed the previous post so it shows just a picture, and you can view the gif via link, if you want.
Both gifs and videos need some time to load , though video starts playing right away.

Edit: Thanks, Warmonger.

I'm glad you like it, guys

I forgot to mention that when 2 players are playing you can switch between vertical or horizontal split screen.

The Greek Encounter... it took me by surprise.

It is the fourth third-party 2D Serious Sam based game that has been released in the past 6-8 months. It is beginning to get really crowded and I am not sure if there is room for another 2D Serious Sam game...

Do we really need another 2D Sam game ? I think I was just too slow, and probably should abandon the Serious Sam concept...

Well, I think that there is always room for a 4th 2D Serious Sam game, you just need to think of an interesting idea. Also even if no one plays it or even realizes it's existence, who cares? Never stopped me from making maps, so neither should it stop you.

Aren't Serious Sam games in fact 4D ? You know, time travel... time being the 4th dimension...
Just kidding.

What would be a 1D game, a text adventure ?

I have exams throughout February, I guess I will have to make some decisions after those pass.

I got up this morning, fired up my PC and I saw an e-mail from college that college won't work today because of snowy weather.

"WTF ? Those lazy bastards, what snow ?"

Then I opened the window and saw this:

Then I made this guy on my balcony:
http://i.imgur.com/SDFW4.jpg

This is, I think, the third time in my life that it fell so much snow over here. The snow was weird, like sand, I couldn't make a proper snowball. So, I made my snowman agains the wall, in 2.5D . So I guess this is still on-topic

Post Re: AntonioR's Showcase Thread - 2D Games

There is a Game Programming Competition on Facepunch forums which I am taking part in. Unfortunately this is the busiest month in the year for me, so I doubt I will be able to finish it on time. The deadline is 1th March.

The theme is "arcade game" and my idea is(was) to make a running game which would be a mixture of VVVVVV and BIT.TRIP RUNNER, with a dash of Knytt games. Since I am no 2D artist the graphics are very primitive.

The future of this project depends heavily on the results of exam in "Numerical Analysis" I wrote on Monday. If I don't pass I will have to prepare even more and try to pass it on next Monday, so I will have not much time for this.

Thanks, I am participating not for the prizes, but for the glory

I hope you guys will have some time for some play-testing and beta-testing in the next 10 days ?

Since I am quite good in Bit.Trip Runner I don't have a "feeling" how difficult this game is (I want to avoid the mistake I made with Serious Sam 2D TLGH).

OK, I will send something in the next few days, because I have passed the exams and now I can concentrate more on this

The game is based on the code of Super Serious Bros., I just had to delete few thousand unnecessary lines of code. Since the code was much cleaner now, I have updated the level editor code. Visually it didn't change much, but the code is much more readable and manageable (OOP FTW!), and the editor is much more user friendly.

http://i.imgur.com/aMkED.jpg

The most significant change is that I changed the way I manage textures, so now I can basically load whatever textures and tilemaps I can find and make levels with it.

Also the GUI is updated a bit, I added dropbox and checkbox object, and made some functions for "form" management.

Now all I have to do is make game related stuff...
