There Will Be Blood 9/10

Dark, sinister and excellently shot and acted. Daniel Day Lewis was an absolute beast.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - 7/10

I enjoyed it for the most part, but I have some problems. The opening action sequence could have been trimmed a little. The main character's had a romance where we joined in the middle and it didn't feel earned. There was a whole sequence from the butterfly to the conduit bridge that could have been (and I think should have been) cut out. and I don't believe Dane DeHan as a hunk. He was believable in the rest of the part, just not as a heartthrob.

I give Valerian an 8/10 because good sci-fi is hard to come by. I will agree that there were many scripting goofs.. but they weren't bad enough to ruin the movie. Agree on dehan. Was the first thing my wife pointed out. The real question is... how many near misses did you have on the beach?

I love French cinema, especially comedy films.

Looks almost legit right? It's most likely a spammer because I removed a spammy URL from their 'homepage' profile field. We'll wait it out.

I have to agree with everyone.
Hacksaw Ridge was an excellent movie.
Everything about it was so good.

And, then, having it as a true story? Unbelievable (not to someone that knows what God is capable of doing, which is everything and anything), but having it confirmed by so many other people is just awesome. (God is a great God).

10/10 for me also.
And I probably never would have watched it had everyone here not recommended it (I kinda like war movies, but I dont like the politics or the death of so many people, although I have watched a lot more war movies lately than I probably have ever watched in my life (HBO has some REALLY good war movies, most based on facts or true stories, and the directing is always top notch, and most of the acting is excellent as well).

Ghost in the Shell was better than I expected it to be. Unlike most anime ports they actually made this into a Hollywood quality film. I think it might have been better if the actress was Asian but you can't have everything.

8/10

I watched Spider-Man Homecoming over the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. Definitely the best Spider-Man movie to date... but the bar is set pretty low I just like the nerdy, quirky Peter Parker and it really brings a refreshing tone to the Marvel universe. If you do end up watching it, definitely stay for the after credits scene, probably one of my favorites so far.

8/10

I have to agree, but my experience also wasn't tainted by watching other versions of the story. I thought it was well done, great cinematography, well orchestrated fight scenes, and incredible soundtrack. I think the whitewashing controversy was blown way out of proportion and there was even a plot device used to explain it. The funny thing is, the only people complaining about it were non-Japanese folks. Can't remember where I saw it, but I remember watching someone interviewing random people on the streets of Tokyo about the movie. All of them were excited about Japanese source material getting a wider audience and none of them cared that the main character was white.

The Japanese don't care about that stuff. They enjoy seeing foreigners experience their culture.

question: was the butchered up version of Enjoy the Silence from the movie trailer also present in the movie itself?

Recently at the cinemas just watched the new Atomic Blond movie - it was actually pretty good I really did enjoy it and it was well done as well... Rated it about 8/10, not perfect but very good with a couple of odd parts in it but otherwise good.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 - 9/10

Excellent, possibly even better than the first one. Colorful and vivid and endlessly entertaining. Ego was simultaneously a fascinating environment and an interesting villain, which, as we all know, Marvel movies usually lack. And Drax fucking killed it.

Yondu dying actually hit me in the feels. I wasn't expecting a GotG movie to do that.

Logan 9/10

A unique story that I wasn't expecting but told pretty well. Wonder where the franchise will go from here. Only downside I think is that the swearing was way overboard to the point of questioning the characters a bit.

That little girl is fucking creepy.

Can we count series?

Orphan Black series finale went on Netflix today, and it's a really good ending to a really good series.

Though, everything goes a little bit too fast imo, they could've slowed the pacing down a bit. Other than that, no complaints.

8/10 would recommend.

Alien Covenant
8/10

Not much fighting, but probably the best story since the 1st one. It really has that one twist that makes you say 'No way!', but it sure does take a long time getting there.
