Default 'Summer in Cairo' Classic!

http://i.imgur.com/zc66IMl.png
Hi, everyone I want to tell you about my upcoming project.
What is 'Summer in Cairo' Classic?
"Summer in Cairo" classic - remake of "Summer in Cairo" from Serious Sam 3: BFE, for Serious Sam: The Second Encounter Classic and Revolution. All inclusive: cut-scenes secrets, INERTAN messages, good balance and atmosphere of the dead Cairo.
Screenshot #1:
"Low fps? I know that feel bro".
No, bro. Framerate is NORMAL. I tried to optimize my map as possible, minumum brushes, maximum models, LOD, etc.. I assure you "Summer in Cairo" classic won't be slowdown!
Screenshot #2:
Any differences from original SS3?
Of course, yes. It's looks like Serious Sam 3 on low graphics. Gameplay has been adapted for SS:Classic, not so many secrets... Actually, I tried to minimize the differences.
Screenshot #3:
When release?
Middle/end of this month. 80% ready (20% - cut scenes and multiplayer). Rev Workshop and Serioussite.
Screenshot #4:

I love it! Very detailed textures

I never actually played SS3 but I've seen playthrough movie on youtube long time ago and I still remember that scenes.

That's actually pretty badass. You put a lot of effort into giving it the same atmosphere, good job.

Now hurry up and finish it.

People always wanted to port Classic maps to HD and SS3.
Last thing we expected was an SS3 map to be ported to Classic XD

Still, this looks seriously awesome!

Wow, impressive. The first screenshot especially looks nearly identical to Sam 3.
You might want to split the edges on the models of the background buildings, I think Sam Classic's trying to even out the shading across 90 degree angles making them look really smooth and strange.
By Might I mean should x3

Also what was your motivation for this? To give a Sam 3 experience to people who can't run it?

Just interesting how SS3 level might look on first engine from technical and aesthetic side. I know about strange shading, but I can't fix it. Shading works this way, if model has a few polygons. But it's a very important for the good performance.

Piece of news.

"Cairo Square" level is completely ready. 100%. BUT... I decided to add "Into the Spider's Nest"! And now, "Summer in Cairo Classic" - is a mapppack of 2 first levels from SS3.

Therefore, release date is postponed to the next month.

Shieeet, man. You're doing some terrific work here. I hope it doesn't get delayed to next year because you felt the need to recreate the entire campaign

Yes, like I said, split your edges It is a nice trick to fake hard shading on a low poly model. Technically it will have a slight increase in processing time, but no where near what you'd spend for a high poly model. CT did it too for a lot of the enemy models and you can see how well it works even when you have tons of enemies on screen.

If you're using Blender, add a split edges modifier and export with the apply modifiers option. You might want to look at the wiki for the split edge modifier as it has some trickyness to work with it, but the time investment will pay off ten fold in your graphics department.

Maybe ask Cyborg? And how are you making maps? You create all or f.e. rip from SS3?

I create all from scratch, because "Rip from SS3" souds like "Rest In Peaces my dear frame rate"=P As for BFE enemies, no need to ask. Cyborg can make it, if he want to.

Somehow it reminds me of Tomb Raider 2, the museum part.

It's proof that kadath has an excellent eye for architecture and knows how to replicate something visually with fewer polygons and brushes. 👍
