Question Anyone still interested?

I have now learned the basic features of the original Serious Editor. I decided, if anyone is still interested I will make a Serious Sam the third encounter. I need to know the answer to this question first though!
How do you make an exit to a level?
I promise, this projecct will be completed and won't go dead. There will be 7 levels. Each one of them will have at least 4 secrets.

Sounds good. There's always interest in custom content for the Sam games.

You have two ways to exit a level. One is to use a PlayerActionMarker with End Game action to end the whole game (exit to NETRICSA and then main menu), to change to another level you must trigger a WorldLink entity, set to the level you want to change to.

There's actually a way to make the player go to a custom player start when changing levels instead of the standard player start, but that's a whole different story if you're interested.

Erm, how about voice quotes? And I don't really know how to make a touchfield... I only started using the editor yesterday!

None of them have been released nor have they been properly tested for playability.

Good luck with your project tho.

Could you edit your post next time if nobody has replied to you yet? It's kinda ugly to have multiple posts after each other. Thanks.

Have you done your basic Editor homework? Have you extracted the gro files? Serious Editor can't read INSIDE gro files, so if you want to use music, sounds, models you actually have to open those files with Winzip or WinRAR and extract them before you can browse to them. The folders you will want to extract: Data, DataMP, Models, ModelsMP, Music, MusicMP, Sounds, SoundsMP, Textures and TexturesMP. You will also have to know what the VirtualTree is and what it does.

Heh. Trigger the voiceholder. Select the sound to use. As for the touchfield: drop a touchfield entity in the world, place it where you want and then add a brush to it. It will turn green if you did it right.

You actually have to add a new item to the VirtualTree. Open Basic Entities and right click on an empty area. Then select "Insert items", go to the classes folder and add MessageHolder.ecl.

I once tried to make a Third Encounter in the original SS. Some of its ideas were transferred to my SSHD maps. For one, the first level of my pack "The Village" is actually named "01_DreadMountain.wld" - "Dread Mountain" was the name of the first level in my own Third Encounter. But I never made more than three levels, I got bored of it, like with most of my projects back then.

Good luck with the project, though to be honest, it would be better if you'd made it for the HD games imo.

Unless when I use this nice blue color I totally didn't steal from Blizzard.

Ive got SSHD, but it wont work on my computer. I think there's around 4 ghz missing from the system requirements. I think it says it can't set the display mode.

Adding a brush is just like adding a room. You can choose what to add it to with a drop down menu, it should show the names of all the brushes. Just select the touchfield (it's called TouchField by default, you can change its name).
