Exclamation SSA will be a remake and not a port

I'VE CHANGED MY MIND FINALLY

So yea, the Serious Sam Advance port I've talked 'bout earlier will be finally a remake, totally different from the original game.
It will include furnishing, more secrets and items, new weapons (replacements) and obviously more enemies

I've found out that making the port is very difficult and inconvenient because some textures couldn't be extracted and if they do they come out crappy and mapping the levels as same as the original is very difficult because you need to follow all the measures by eye. Instead, by making a remake it feels enjoyable and fun by adding more stuff and it looks more appealing.

The work will be very slow because right now we are only two people working . If there's someone willing to cooperate with our work feel free to join, especially good modellers and texture artists.


PS: I need someone who teaches me about triggering, especially with enemies.

Let me guess Kazuya is the socond person? If i could have new PC, i could do enemies for you.
With triggering enemies: ask Rakanishu for a help.
And why don't you want make this mod for SS SE classic? IMO this is much easier.

Yea, it's Mister Mishima, but he just hepls me with some models and stuff, nothing dangerous.

Are the maps made from the Distro Beta Editor compatible with SE? Coz if it is, it's just a snap to do. But on Rev there are the alpha enemies, which I can substitute their models with the advance enemies, because their behavior are quite similar to the original (Like Huanman for the Methug Soldier)

Try doing it at TSE,you can restore all alpha enemies,just what is need to do is have copied models to correct dir,then in visual studio include scrapped .es and cpp file at compiling dlls and bingo,u have restored early enemies.

I'm not that good at coding. I've just started learning basic c with devc++.

For the maps I'm using FE textures, replaced by jD's FE+ ones. How do I include them in SE with a .gro?

You must do correct paths in gro file like:
If you want to add there custom model for minigun etc
You must have that path:Models/Weapons/MiniGun
So,if you want to do it for textures,create folder Textures and there copy all tex files.

While mapping the pool part of the first level the editor crashed. Thank god I saved, but after reopened it the editor crashes immediately again... need h8lp

[EDIT] I've figured out the problem: the cluster size was too small for smth like texture, sector os sumwat like that...

I have no idea where to put some of it.
But look on the other hand.. you can jump, swim and aim vertically. Isn't that neat?

It is a horizontal game, yeah, but if the remake takes advantage of the superior engine, maybe it should go all out. (Also if you have the game itself, then playing it on an emulator is not illegal.)

Verticality -> The use of vertical spaces. (So for example, bridges, platforms, etc, above ground level.)

Someone should totally do a remix of the menu/title theme of SSA. It's basically the only good thing about that game.

I don't think Classic and HD textures blend well together but looks really good so far!

Good news

-> The first level is completed and the second is in progress at 90% with some verticality finally
-> Model replacements were done such as enemies (Bladder Beast and Hermit Crabuloid) and weapons (UMT). The Prion gun is in progress.
-> Classic textures are now as compatible as NotHD textures

Bad News

->Music is replaced with slightly improved sound effects and not crappy low-q buzzes anymore. If someone here want to volunteer to remaster the OST, I'd be glad.
->Tomorrow i'm going on a vacation in my homeland Indonesia for 2 months and I definetely don't have time for mapping.
