For SURE, I think SS4 may (or may not) be 100% Egypt free.

Yeah, you definitely have your tinfoil hat on with that.

Anyway...

Wow, glad to know I wasn't wrong or mistaken when I thought that HD lacked the colours.

Glad to see a public confirmation even though these news are 3 years old already. Can't wait to hear what brother Jitz is up to. The soundtrack of Seum was great.

From what Damjan showed me when I was at the office, the SS4 soundtrack is in godly hands as always. And it might come with a few surprises!

Well, Talos is pretty cool realistic in color scheme. I think it's more the design matters - bigger variety of columns, statues, architecture. This is one of the cons of SS3 - there were just few assets, always grouped the same way, over and over again - same statues, same columns...

Btw I expect SS4's final level(s) to be in Egypt (mostly because the Desert Temple remake, which is going to be in the game, as far as I know). Also I hope there will be more than 12 levels at launch... And don't make DLC with three levels. If you extend the game - do it with full-blooded expansion, no matter the higher cost.

Desert Temple is the only Egypt you'll see in SS4.

As for the assets.... well yeah. SS4 will likely have thrice the amount of assets, but it is also a reason why it takes that long to make.

I do have to mention, that SS3 also got more assets than any other SS game before; you see, there were always the same columns, the same statues, grouped the same way because that's how Egypt IS in real life! If you look at some pictures on the internet, you will realize that Ancient Egypt is basically column paradise.

The reason I'm telling this is I've looked more pictures from Egypt and can tell that there are a lot's of different styles in Ancient Egypt architecture.

Yeah, but it depends on the location. Most of the SS3 assets were based on Karnak/Thebes.

It's a good thing you appended your first sentence with "as always", otherwise I might've had to gut you for stating the obvious.

Actually, I wonder if I came out a little creepy. We were talking about the music of the games, and design related to that, and I mentioned that I think the games could use some "recurring tunes", called leitmotifs. And I mentioned that imo the TFE Intro music could be a leitmotif. And he was like "Which one was that? I made so much music I can't recall them all." So I took out my phone and said "Well, I do have the soundtrack of all SS and Talos on my phone...".

Damjan always used those "leitmotifes" in TFE/TSE and SS2. Each game had its own base melody.

Yes. Just a little creepy. Though if I met Damjan in real life I'd totally geek out and offer him a blowjob or something. And I'm straight.

And I agree about the leitmotif. The Sam3 soundtrack felt lacking in that regard, and it also felt a bit rushed. We'll chalk that down to Damjan not working on the soundtrack from the start, because we know his abilities are godlike.

TFE/TSE didn't really have any leitmotifs either. It had some recurring percussion beats in some tracks, especially the Karnak ones, and some fight music were reused, but still not that noticeable.

SS2, on the other hand: https://youtu.be/hrNp97rZoac?t=16m17s

SS2's leitmotif was used almost as heavily as FFXIII's.

Yeh, you can hear it in M'Digbo "Ursul Gardens" level, then in all Kleer levels and intermission screens (Solais's post)...

Now that you mention leitmotifs, I do enjoy the Ursul Gardens fight theme thanks to that.

I wonder about SS4's soundtrack right now. Very exciting for me.

Errrr... I usually just play with the music off so I can just listen to my own music in its place. ^^; Some games I don't do that but it's rare...

It felt a bit repetitive and monotonous after some time though imo.

The Serious Sam series should be part of "some games".

In your opinion, Solais, the minigun firing sound in SS2 an SS3 is your least favorite. I personally found it pretty good, actually. In Sam 4, however, I imagine the minigun sounding kind of like the minigun Turrets in Sam 3.

I would like a minigun sound similar to the "venom" from Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Doubt it, because the minigun turret's sound is the beta sound for the SS3 minigun, before it was replaced by the SS2 one.

I like the minigun as well. Sounds strange but it will be cool to also have a weapon that looks like the M240 or something like that. But im not sure. It would act like the minigun, but slightly slower and can be used closer ..
