Default Serious Sam BFE crashes when loading first level

Hi,
when I try to start the first level my game crashes. I can get into the menus but can't get into the game itself.

I'm on a MacBook Pro.

Unless you are using the "legacyosx" version, is this a pirated copy of the game? It's a VERY old version, and I don't think you'd need to use a legacy version if you're using El Capitan.
