Default Some movie news I found interesting, taken with a few grains of salt

Here is some news I found at Cinescape and IGN:

On Indiana Jones IV: Here

Quote:
Now Lucas is talking about the possibility of getting the film in gear immediately.

“It's going to happen. It's going to happen," he said in an interview with Leonard Maltin at the recent BAFTA/Los Angeles awards. "We have what we all believe to be a good idea. There's a lot of work ahead of us, but we are all looking forward to it. If I finish up with EPISODE II this week I have to begin work on INDY 4 next week.”
I have been waiting for INDY IV for a loooooong time! They'd better get it done soon, otherwise Ford will play grandpa Jones.

The Matrix: Reloaded Trailer: Here

Quote:
E! online seems to have confirmed a rumor that’s been floating around the Net for a few weeks now - namely that the first MATRIX RELOADED trailer will be hitting screens in front of STAR WARS: EPISODE II - ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

That’s the word from an unnamed reporter on the cable channel’s news site, who saw the trailer at Joel Silver’s Warner Bros. lot offices. How was it?

The reporter apparently “sat dumbfounded.” As if we needed another reason to rush to EPISODE II.
Great, another reason for thursty SW fanatics and bullet dodgers alike to race to the theater to see TWO kick ass things in one sitting.

And lastly KING KONAN:
Here

Quote:
April 17, 2002 - A source close to the production of King Conan: Crown of Iron has advised IGN FilmForce that the Warner Brothers-based sequel is indeed on "the fast track" as previous reports have suggested. Writer-director John Milius has recently completed his rewrite of the screenplay; it is expected to be landing on studio executives' desks soon. Our source claims the script's finale offers some of Milius' best writing yet.

FilmForce has also learned that there is a mutual interest in casting Vin Diesel (The Fast and the Furious, xXx) as Conan's estranged son, Kon, in the epic sequel.
I think the Rock would have been a better choice for Kon since the Rock has the 'Muscle Mass' to make it work. Vin would need to bulk up a little more to look like Arnold's son, don't you think? But another kickass Conan movie would definately cue my interest.

Conan rules! The bit where Arnie punched that horse in the chops was a truly great cinematic moment

I use to collect Savage Sword of Conan, King Conan, well hell, all the Conan stuff I could get, Vin Diesal would make a good Conn, Because ya gotta admit if Vin played an 18 year old that's pretty damn bulky fer dat age. Besides Conn was a halfbreed iron hard Cimmarion and cultured and civilized Aquilonian, a'course he's gonna be smaller. That and the Rock is a little too old fer the role.

I remember seeing an interview with Arnold after Conan was released, he said it was the only role he was asked to beef up for. Oh yeah, he punched a camel not a horse.

I was thinking the same thing.

Knowing LUCAS i'm quite sure it will happen. It seems that he enjoys ruining movies with overdone special effects, especially now where technology allows you to get alot of shit done without so much hassle.

Probably the new Indiana Jones will become yesterday's Tomb Raider.

That would really stink.

Well considering that Indy takes place during WW2, he is pretty limited in the special effects he can do.

Nazi robots, magical creatures, mummies, laser guns, aliens, space ship.

Lucas is capable of adding all of those to use his Special FX.

I fear the new Indy will suck.

I just know Lucas will rely on technology to fill in for effects... I mean think about it.

The Gungans sucked, because they looked and fake in EP1, while the Ewoks looked fake but felt real. Because they had PEOPLE playing them. Not some damn computer.

Lucas is walking a fine line right now between being a visionary with technology, or a casualty of it.

The computer generated graphics weren't that great either. They should have used puppets or models like they did with the earlier movies.

Damn right.

The earlier movies had this 'human' feeling to the characters... they looked real.

The CG ones just looked CG.. fake. Plastic... emotionless.

hmmm, i dont pick up that impression to much...but u have to admit its pretty amazing what they did with jar jar....he does look like an actor is playing him

and in eII the effects will even be better!

(oh btw, they did use an actor when filming...then they kinda just cut the actor out and replaced his motions with jar jars)

I disagree, I found Jar Jar to look fake and plastic.

Star Wars EP 1 - Uber fake and plastic.

Final Fantasy: The Movie - I forgot it was CG many times.

Take that into account, Final Fantasy:The Movie amazed me with the CG many, many times over. Where as in EP 1 I just thought it looked retarded.

Yup, a lot of people hated jar jar, but I thought he was great. Great affects, and a good comical relief. He looked real enough to me.

He was such a pointless character though and star wars isn't supposed to be a kiddie film.

I found Jar Jar's wise cracks to be painfully awful. There's still hope for the Star Wars series, though. Some of the more recent games (like Rogue Leader and Jedi Knight II) prove the series still has its original flare, and I think Lucas is capable of making another classic movie. The only thing standing in his way is that he might be taking this power thing a little too seriously. Star Wars 1 probably might have sucked on the same budget.
