I don't think so they are religious because someone is forcing them to be that, it's stupid. They are religious because they want to be. Religion and Science are separate, and can work side-by-side. Just like Faith/Belief/Hope is not something tied to religion exclusively.

Well of course i can't know what is in their head, but i do know many people, mostly muslims though, they really don't have any choice. They have to be religous, or atleast act as such, because otherwise they would be in huge problems with their family and such.

One of father's coworker (well, when he worked) had a daugther, and he forced her to drop her BF simply because he wasn't of the same religous. She didn't have much word over what she would like to believe, she was enforced to follow it, if she likes it or not.

And even here, in more traditional catholic region, people like to look at you like a weirdo because you are not religous. You can for sure feel pressure....

Even my father is like that; he's not religious at all, but he kinda acts as one because he doesn't want to stand out too much.

That's weird, because your region is almost my region too (though my region is a little more protestant), and over here, while there's religion and I'm from a religious family too, many people still believe science more than religion. Then again, I'm from an Academy City, so I guess that's why.

(This always baffled me, how this city is one of the most technologically advanced in the country, yet it still doesn't have gaming culture and such like on the west. Hmm. I guess the surrounding poverty - since this is also the poorest region of the country - prevents it.)

Depends on where you live for sure. Around here, religion gets the shit and made fun of all the time, doesn't matter what you think and people rather look down on religious people as being weird rather than the other way around.

Nothing against atheists, but I think sometimes they go a bit too far, they're even trying to ban traditional Finnish songs from being sung in schools and whatnot because of their religious context. I mean wtf people. Same goes for religious symbols and stuff. You might as well ask to replace the crosses in the graveyard with triangles.

IMO both hardcore pro-atheists and pro-religion people are equally stupid.

Well, things seems t be slowly changing here too, but very slowly. Still, sounds like the two of us should switch places, finzy.

Finzy, while dunno you maybe would call be hardcore pro-atheist, what i just want is people to use their own heads, and not just blindy believe because they were though to believe something. Like, if you follow proofs, and you with those find it that only logical thing is that there is higher being....well, i can respect that. And in these cases i try not to be a dick try to convert them.

But in most cases, you can just see that what people say are simply what they have been thought from early days so they aren't really thinking with their own mind, but with someone else's, so to speak.

And while i have strong opinion about atheism and such, i don't think making fun of religious people is the right think to do either. That would be sort of a witch hunt or like medieval ages, how atheist would have been seen, just that it's the other way around this time.

Solais, well, while i think young native slovenians are going much more the science route, i do originate from croatian and bosnia (serbian part), and the two countries are one of the most hardcore when it comes to religion, and there are many people from those here in slovenia aswell, especially where i live + relatives and such.

Because to us religion and/or science do not continue, nevertheless, we try an experiment based on these texts

Let's see where this lead us.

I do not believe in this.

There is no gaming culture here aswell, only piracy for some people and only the following games:
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Multiplayer)
- Counter-Strike 1.6

Only those..
