UPD:
I write all questions and answers here, maybe it'll be help somebody.


Q: When Im making animation, I can see kind of inertia. How can I control it?
A: Shift+I - interpolator editor.

Q: I made several chapter info's. In the script, I started chapter A, then started chapter B. But when I die, or get to level's border, I return to chapter A. What is the problem?
A: You need to link one chapter to another. Click a chapter, and there you can assign the next one in the chain. Alternatively, to use Chapters the way Talos does it, you have to use the purple barriers for starting and stopping them. That way, chapters don't need (and must not be) linked.

Q: How can I create particle effect?
A: They are creating inside the SEditor, entity "Particle effect". Most of them are "Machine particle effect".

Q: I got errors kinda "Can't open file ***.***. Creating replacement file ***.***:1"
A: It is possible, that your game is in public beta, but editor is not. Also, check if you resaved original assets without changing names or folders.
It was a bug. It is already fixed. If you have this message, then do what is written above.

Q: I want to create carriable item, what parameters are better for it?
A: CCarriableItemParams, though it's easier if you take the cube and resave it and then change that.
But be sure that you made model for first person view too.


Q: I copied something from original level to mine one, and now I can see error, telling me that I cant reference to this level.
A: Find assets that you copied, and make them local (or resave them).

Q: How can I create an animated texture?
A: You do it by simply inserting the texture first with all frames in the pic.
- Go to Shader modifiers,
- add CTextureAnimatorModifier,
- count your frames,
- add that number in "Count of frames",
- now in "Count frames X" add the first number of frames that go to the X coordinate in the first row,
- same for the "Y" coordinate,
- the rest should be self explainable

1. Even when DLC content is resaved, people will still need the DLC. There's an internal checker for that.

2. Of course. Why wouldn't you?

1) Hmm, in the Animation Editor, you can summon the Inertia Editor with a hotkey. Problem is, I used it so long ago, that I don't remember the hotkey. I think it is either "I" or some combination of ctlr,alt,shift with I.

Serious Editor. The particle effects can be created inside the editor, within a Particle Effect entity.

P.S. I wanted to paint my model, I even have imported it to editor, but to paint polygon maps I need not .tex, but .mtr. What is this 'material" and how to receive it?

The "falling waterfall streak" is the name of that effet part, it is not its type. Usually, most of the particle effects are Machine.

I checked: It is Shift+I, the interpolator editor.

You create them inside the Mesh Editor, where you add the shaders and the textures. There should be some tutorial about it on youtube.

DLC_01_Rift.wld.

I wonder, how this level works? I mean:

1) How objects are moving around the place.

2) Why space around the level is black.


I found this all out by myself already, then another questions:

1) Is there a possibility to stop one particle effect in several areas? I made snow effect, but snow is falling into buildings. Or maybe there is another way to make environment particle effects?

2) Could I link more than 2 activators to plasma door some way?

3) How is precaching works? What are precaching detectors for?

1) Well, Talos already got a snow particle effect. Anyways, you should select it and Bake.

2) Possibly through a script, but even Croteam likes to use more than one plasma door in that case.

3) To load the assets of the levels so the next level that uses the same assets won't have to load them, I think. Never used them.

Editing a post is not displayed as a new message on the forums, so they are never noticed.

○ 1) Hmm, yes, I knew about this particle effect (p.e.), but snow falls slowly and almost directly to the ground in it. In my level it must be snow storm, so the snow must fall faster and not only to the ground, but in almost all directions. I modified standart snow p.e.
The problem is, I dont correctly realize what the baking is and how it works. All I can try - just select p.e. and press "Bake selected", but this doesn't do any effect (tried with standart p.e. too).

2) Ok, I see.

3) I didnt planed to use it too, but editor sometimes give me errors about uncached objects. I`ll take a screenshot if it repeat.

○ 4) What is "Destruction editor", what it`s assignment? Couldnt understand at all

When I load my level I see these errors. I speak only about original resources, I know what the problems with my own.
For example, this error:
"Cannot open file .../Boiler_skin_GM.tex. Creating replacement file"
I even didnt edit this texture, or model using it, even mesh. I didnt touch anything.

1) It should be Bake Selected, yes.

4) It is mostly used for Serious Sam, it is the editor to use with models that can be destroyed.

5) Is it possible that you are in public beta but your editor is not? Did you extract anything from the All.gro files manually?

In general, you can't extract anything from the All.gro manually, it will give problems always.

Suddenly I noticed that I asked too many questions. So many that I finished do anything. This is problem, all that I knew about SED4 before questions I learned by myself, by seeing Croteam maps.

Oh... I DONT have these assets.


But I have the same errors even If I download another copy of the game. Even this copy dont have these files.
I just cant understand - why there are no the same errors in original "Nexus.wld".

I want to create a new carriable item, so, what I need for this?
1) Model, of course, it's clear.
2) Something called "Mechanism", what is it?
3) Item parameters. One of them.
4) I need to USE this item. So, for example, get it to another object, use on it, and then this item deletes from my hands, and this 'another object' change its model.

CCarriableItemParams, though it's easier if you take the cube and resave it and then change that.

Mechanism is edited in the collision editor.

It works, but firstPerson camera is in wrong place. It is a bit right to the place where player actually standing.
