Default Sambonanza 2006 - be a part of the action!

I'm officially posting the 'Sambonanza 2006!' thread because this time we have tons of advance notice and I want to really push for this to kick some real ass.
http://www.popcornnazi.com/oswald/Misc/sb_2006.jpg
Destination: Dallas, TX.
Time: Summer.

Details: Xxzen did invite the whole world down, as per this post:

Sambonanza 2006 is on the horizon, if you're interested please post your summer availabilty and anything you'd like to do in and around Dallas, TX.

Sambonanza 2006 -
I planned to go on a trip this summer - which went from a road-trip to CA to visiting Joram again and with this, I'm thinking of taking a solid week off work and spending five days in Dallas and nine days in Mexico.

I'm game for any time all summer. Open as a pr0n0mag!

...maybe get another tattoo again, and perhaps I could get more community produced heckling this time 'round

It's a lot cheaper than I thought to fly down to Texas. About $317 according to Air Canada. I'd love to come, but it might not be possible. Heading out on another course this summer, plus getting some bullshit work at SHAPE in Belgium maybe before that. So my summer is probably all booked up.

Like I said in the other thread, I'd love to go, but it also depends on whether or not you guys mind that someone in the group isn't old enough to (legally ) drink. I'll be 19 at the time, so it's not like I'm an immature punk who'll be bothering you the whole time .

On another note, since I'll be driving, I'd be more than willing to give someone a lift, as long as it isn't too far from my route. I'll most likely be going from Oregon, to Boise, ID, through UT, CO, KS, and drop down OK, down into TX. However, I might go through Cali and then go east through Arizona and New Mexico.

Anyway, just let me know. I won't be insulted if you don't want the burden of a minor .

"Cuba" isn't that far from Oregon. Perhaps you could hitch a ride with NMR.

Well, I'm poor, 19, and will likely be attempting to start some form of career or taking classes, but I can make myself available methinks. There has been some minor talk with some of the guys here of a Canada trip, but since I have no intention of planning everything out for five people and organising border crossing on my own, it likely won't happen. Translation: I'm most likely game for Texas, keep me posted.

I may chip in some of teh moneyz and hitch a ride with Booger seeing as I live just east of Nashville. Throw Walt in and you'll have two of the whitest people on earth in attendance (in so many ways).

I'd be game for that, especially since the legal drinking age is 18 . That is of course, if you don't mind me tagging along . Of course, I haven't been outside of the country before, so I'm not quite sure what is needed. I know I need my birth certificate, but is there any other papers I need to bring along?

It's best to have a passport. While you can leave the US and get back in with just a birth certificate and (if under 18) a notarised letter of consent from a legal guardian, a passport is better by far. Not that there's much issue leaving the US most times; it's the getting back in that will give you a fit.

while I wouldnt recommend leaving the country without a birth certificate, Oswald will tell you, all it takes is driving up to the INS guy saying "US citizen" and be waved along. Mostly because locals make up 95% of the driving traffic, most of us already know they INS guys, on foot though, you do get hassled and searched more.

While Oswald was here the most we got were raised eye brows over what two guys from diffrent parts of the country were doing enetering the country in the same car, but that was resolved in seconds.

And yes, the legal drinking age in Mexico is indeed 18 Most people dont know this but, while it may be legal to drink at 18 in Mexico, it is illegal to drive back to (or walk) the US while still intoxicated. That will land you in the Pokey.

Like I said, if any one wants to tag along with me from dallas, or come here and tag along to dallas, Ive got no problem with that. Oswald came and crashed at my place for a week, and I can honestly say we had a non stop blast. We even weathered a hurricane

Not a problem. Just keep in mind that I won't be able to drive you guys back home. I'm flying into Tennessee, renting a car, and driving the car back to Los Angeles. So you're going to have to figure out how to get home on your own.

Yep. Granted I came back with pictures of me naked and drunk, but at least I came back without any diseases that were not translatable to the English language like the dreaded "Tacorifo" or the "Burritoloco".

Oh, and as of right now, I want to go - badly. However, my pal Nick might have a serious objection to going to Texas/Mexico when we already agreed to roadtrip to California. I'll do my best to sell him on the idea but if he just won't budge then I'll probably just fly to Dallas for a weekend that (if possible) lands during Sambonanza 06.

Well, a change of plans for me, if I end up going. I'll probably end up flying down there, I didn't realize how cheap the tickets would be (about $280 for a round trip), which beats the excruciating long drive down there. However, I don't know about transportation, perhaps, if someone else is flying, we could split the cost of a car rental if that sounds appealing enough (that is, if we plan on arriving on the same day).
