Default No More Hitscan Cloned Solders or Technopolips mod

One of the biggest complaints with Serious Sam 3 is that there's too many hitscan enemies. I made this mod to make the biggest offenders, the Cloned Soldiers and the Technopolip, into projectile-firing enemies who's attacks can be avoided. The idea is to make them still be as hard as they were normally, but with projectile weapons. This also helps recapture the "FPS bullet hell" theme that TFE and TSE had, but SS3 lacks in the early part of the game.


Here's the changes:

Cloned Rifleman - equipped with a Laser Gun that fires 4 lasers at short range, 5 at medium, and 6 at long. Each laser does 2 damage per hit, and is somewhat slow.

Cloned Shotgunner - equipped with a modified Laser Gun that fires one powerful laser instead of a steam of them. This laser is faster (but not by much) compared to the Cloned Rifleman's and does 10 damage per hit.

Technopolip - Now fires bursts of five or so rockets. Two rockets are "warning" ones that fire underneath it, while the last three target the player. The last three will try to anticipate where the player is moving, so make sure to change directions often when facing it. Each rocket does 20 damage if it's a direct impact, or 1-10 damage depending on where the player is when it explodes.

Note that the Cloned Soldiers still occasionally drop the Pump Shotgun or Assault Rifle, even though they're now using Laser Guns. This is to keep the default game's weapon balance because you first pick up the Pump Shotgun and Assault Rifle from Cloned Soldiers. If anyone is interested, I could tweak it so that they drop Laser Guns and Laser Gun ammo, but only for an "alternate" version.

You could even try making the laser projectiles to look the same as their visible hitscan projectiles, and just changing them to use that. So they would look and act the same, only making their projectiles non-hitscan.

I had no idea I could do that, but I think I'll stick with the laser models so that people know for sure that they're not firing hitscan bullets. Plus, it makes the first few levels in SS3 look more like a "bullet hell" shooter.

Can you make alternative version of both mods(this&Arachnoids) with only changed to no-hitscan but with original weapons?

Usually it's best not to bump threads older than a few months, but in this case it's related to the subject, so it's cool. He runs the risk of the author not being so active anymore and not getting a reply, but there's no risk.
