Default HEAD UP! Prey is available on Steam for only $4.95

Sorry for the Ad Spamish title, but I logged onto Steam about 5 minutes ago and saw it... I figured that there might be 1 or 2 people here that might not have had a chance to play this great game. So thats why I'm giving everyone the heads up....

I know that there are a few of us here that have, and like, Steam.

I also know that there are a lot of people that are familiar with Prey.

Well, it turns out that for this weekend Prey is on sale, through Steam only, for $4.95. It regularly goes for 19.95 on Steam...

If you haven't had a chance to play this absolutely great game, and you don't mind Steam , now would be the best time to pick it up.

Anyways, just thought y'all might like to know...

Heck yeah. If you have Steam and like FPSs, that is a steal.
I played Prey, and I thought it was a pretty darn good game. Nice graphics, gameplay, and IIRC, one of the few games I have played with no bugs or glitches throughout the whole game.

My objection of Prey was the protagonist (player character). He had terrible voice acting, and had a bad "past" or conflict so to speak.
Otherwise, game was quite good.

I agree with Brute, and I only know this from my mate playing the game, I wouldn't buy it. Voices are everything to me.

I bought it for 9,95 € last summer (not from Steam though). No harm done.

It was a good game, but the game could've really been longer and the levels should've been bigger, like the levels you get later in the game (where you can fly and freely explore those asteroid things etc).

I didn't mind the voices, I thought the voiceacting was good. The devs should support their game better though, people have only released a couple of really short custom maps for it and mods and such are non-existant. :/ It's all dead once you finish it.

My problem with the Prey lead character was that he was a jackass. "Come on, let's get off the reservation!" Whiny little jackass...

OK, so he's a whiny jackass.... who just happens to be a big enough badass to takeout an entire alien race which probably makes him badder than most whiny bitches

On a more serious note... I didn't find the voice acting all that bad. Some of it was dialog related (You know the old Hollywood saying, "you can write this crap, but you can't say it"). And, you have to admit the game had a pretty cool storyline. But the real reason to play was for the gameplay... and that is where Prey shines.

Game was actually the right length for me, sometimes games of normal length "drag on" depending on the gameplay and visuals
I enjoy these shorter games and from time to time I'll come back to Prey and do a play-through

Funny, two gameshops in my area sell the game for €5 and €40. $5 is a steal, as it's even less in euros.

Wow, that's really cheap. I bought it some time ago for €15, really worth it... it's a great game.

I don't recall the voice acting in the game really being bad. Ok, maybe they didn't have actual Hollyweird actors doing the voice overs like BioShock has, but I think even since it has been quite a while since I played it, if it were that bad, I would have remembered it, because bad voice overs, are nerve racking, and I just don't remember it being bad.

If it is because the lead character you play sounds whiny, well it probably is because you play a native American, whose family lives in a freaking desert, where the US government pushed all them on to. Ok, in this case, it is Oklahoma and not Arizona or New Mexico, but it is still a reservation.
If any race in this country has a right to be bitchy, it sure in the hell is the American Indian. This country has ass-raped their whole race. Can you say 'genocide'? They lost their whole country, language, and culture. Only fragments remain being passed down, by those who survived, that had to move from their land, onto the deserts and the fruitless plains.
And yet they seem to be a proud people to me, on the whole, with the most to bitch about, but the least ones who do.

So yeah, the lead character may be kind of bitchy. Gets awfully hot there in Oklahoma too, (where the game takes place)I know, I am from there. And I was bitchy every July and August whenever my A/C went out.

Oh heck yeah. That was majorly cool. That was Art Bell, he does those weird scifi talk radio broadcasts for real, in case you never heard of him.
